Just lie, say self employment as like… Anything. IT services are great for this because nobody can fucking check anything if it doesn’t exist anymore. Or just “painter and decorator” is pretty good. Gardening services. The kinds of things you can cold call people for and there’ll be odd jobs people need doing.

Pretty much anyone could pretend to have done a variety of IT services as self employed without any ability to verify any of it. Say you were the top seller for search optimisation services on Fiverr. It’s impossible to verify and easily makes more than enough income for one person a year to justify it.

Ive been to double digit job interviews this year and gotten nothing, I’m going back to school instead now lmao agony-deep

I went to a job interview and got ghosted by HR, I sat in the lobby for half an hour before stealing a magazine and leaving

Another interview was 3 hours long (agony-mescaline) and they ghosted me

I got a rejection email 4 months later so thats something I guess

I got myself into a situation where I needed a job NOW and almost two years later I’m still delivering boxes for Amazon. Gonna put my diplomas up in the un-air-conditioned cargo hold

Looking for a job on top of 10 hour days in 100 degree weather is just too much…

Yeah I worked through trying to get accommodations at work, got a small fraction of what I asked for, and have been suffering since. It’s probably in my head, but I feel like it mostly made things worse. This is why people suffer in silence; at least that way there’s no retribution

This is real, the moment I say I have Autism, I’m not getting hired and it fucking sucks.

Been volunteering in Community Radio for a while now, it doesn’t pay but it’s at least shit to tide me over, but atp I doubt I’ll ever have a job that isn’t volunteering, thank god for parents and the albeit small Canadian Social Safety Net.

I spent 2 years looking for a tech job, with 10 years experience in the roles I was shooting for. Its fucking ROUGH out there. Luckily I started working for a nonprofit via Americorps right now, but if there’s any people who want to apply to software companies, hit me up and I can share some sites that aren’t on the beaten path that got me some interviews.

It fucking sucks, and im underemployed now but im in the “at least its something” camp, plus its good work so hopefully this next year let’s me career pivot into homelessness work

same… im about 1 year in and though i’ve had a few interviews, they’ve all been real WTF moments… 4 years ago all i had to do was think about looking for a job and i’d have 3 offers lined up… now i get the first interview, the guy can’t find my resume, doesn’t listen to a word I say, doesn’t know anything about the job he’s interviewing me for, and then i get the rejection afterward. this is the craziest shit

I spent almost 2 years looking, then I lucked out and found out that my old job from about 20 years ago was open again. My old boss was even still there. I’d probably still be looking otherwise.

Why don’t they just ask chatGPT since it seems to be ingrained into every single other part of the hiring process now?
