You’d be surprised. National restaurant chains pay more than you think. There’s absolutely zero chance steak n shake is getting a 1% rate. I promise they’re paying something near 3%. Credit card processing is infinitely more complex than folks think it is.

This surprises me not at all. Every time you swipe your card the credit card network charges the merchant 3% of what you paid. Bitcoin definitely does not cost the merchant 3% especially if they have a way to convert it in near real time to avoid any weird spikes or dips in the price of Bitcoin.

Credit card processing is expensive and there’s a reason merchants don’t like doing it. So it sounds dumb but from a business standpoint it makes more sense than you might think

I mean this is kinda a weird viewpoint. I’ve lived in a huge city for many many years, and sure I know lots of people who use AI for dumb shit, but I also know tons of people who don’t. Cities are full of quite literally all kinds. So of course those kinds of weirdos are here, every kind of weirdo is here. Were they though? Most of this “good science” was serving private interests in accumulating more profit rather than actually accomplishing something societally meaningful. They were producing science sure but was it doing anything? Making crops and medicine and technology that nobody can afford or use isn’t really good science regardless of what the potential benefits could be

Had a roommate in college who complained about a couple of plates I left in the sink for a few days. Meanwhile his crock pot that had been cooking for 2 days straight was sitting right next to the sink covered in duct tape because we finally realized he was never eating whatever was in there so we unplugged it and taped it shut so we didn’t have to smell it. Never took him seriously again after that nonsense.

That crockpot sat there for weeks before he finally just threw it out.

But my 2 plates sitting in the sink over a weekend I was too hung over to clean them is the problem. Sure dude.
