• They shouldn’t have been banned imo because they were increasingly hostile because I was increasingly annoying. I mean sure they’re a lib too but what do the mods expect when i start responding to lengthy replies with varying equivalents of “lol suck me off liberal,” that’d engender hostility in most people

(but he called me an idiot so i checked out, i’m not gonna read 10 paragraphs from someone talkin shit at me)

on the other hand, telling a liberal to suck off me and then seeing them immediately get banned before they can reply is one of the best parts of the site

Yeah I’m with you there. I don’t think people like that should be banned so quickly. Like yeah they were rude but now they’re most likely back in a lib space where they won’t be exposed to this kind of information which could possibly help them to keep moving left. Instead now they’ll just keep on libbin’ with maybe a bit of extra “the tankies were mean to me” to go with it

I’ve noted that a good % of new libs seem to think hiding behind left-adjacent names and/or non-cis pronouns will protect them from moderation.

I recall this one lib in particular complaining/defending their ass-takes by repeatedly reminding the thread their name was taken from a leftist.

They still got banned haha! Goofy, the lot of em

        • I got the impression they were a rad lib on a hopefully leftward trajectory. I think they shouldn’t have been banned imo because like, how else will they ever be cured of their rad libbery other than by exposure to actual communists

The us concept of democracy is based on magical thinking

This guy managed to talk really long, let’s disregard everything we were supposed to talk about, they must be right

I was sure Mayor Pete was the most insufferable lib to ever lib in libtown. But Booker is shooting up like John Belushi in a bathtub.

The next season of Election might be very funny.

Haha now his doing this on April fools Day makes waaay more sense. Yaknow that hadta been eating at him, the way libs live for vibes. Stompin around in a pointless fingerwaggin show while actively avoiding actual governance… Amazing, its too perfect. chefs-kiss

Meaningless performative gesture that some blowhard does and libs tripping over their own dicks to fawn over it. I don’t think anyone can name a more iconic duo!

      https://www.politico.com/news/2025/04/01/former-acting-ag-whitaker-confirmed-as-us-envoy-to-nato-00006035

Edit: this was not unanimous. I think people are confused because the motion to invoke cloture was reached by unanimous-consent agreement (at a previous date). This just means that everyone agreed not to debate anymore about the nomination and set a date for the vote, which was Tuesday, and which was 52-45.

Most Americans have very little idea of how their government works, so it is not surprising that this misunderstanding has spread so much; I’ve seen quite a few people saying he was appointed through unanimous-consent. Appointments are never passed through unanimous-consent agreements, they always go to vote.

Ahhh I see; that makes sense. Ugh thats so disappointing how this stuff gets spread around even by USians who seem to have decently sharp political analysis. I think I probably have a somewhat better understanding of our government than the average person and I cant even decipher some legislation and the language used to explain the decision processes. Sad

It’s very funny how seem to do the utmost to announce their performative bullshit is, in fact, a performance.

Everything the democrats do starts with a little disclaimer like the beginning of Michael Jackson’s Thriller video. “Just so you know, we’re just dancing, I don’t endorse the occult or actually turn into a werewolf.”

Honestly, they’re very good at doing stunts that are meaningless. They’re wilely. Does really highlight how they chose not even to appear to be in the way of the genocide of Gaza
