Supposedly the reason we refer to these ites as “cakes” traces back to Benjamin Franklin. While experimenting with the Franklin stove he baked a bunch of cookies that he eventually placed beside the outhouse for his guests. Apparently John Hancock accidentally knocked the plate into the urine pot, and presto, the cakes absorbed the smell.

Challenge level impossible: Americans stop treating the founding fathers like a pantheon of mythological figures.

Franklin is just the Americanized Zeus figure.

Who the fuck goes to an outhouse and is like “man, I sure could go for a cookie while I’m doing my business?”

        1700s guys were gross.

Nice try tankie, but North Korea is actually not a democracy. They may call it that, but they are authoritarian and the people are basically zombie drones who blindly follow the leader. Unlike here in the US, where we freely chose our democratically elected leaders!

“So you believe what the Nazis said?”

When don’t they? It’s often wrapped in “yes Hitler was bad, but dae le trains ran on time dae le science from death camp torture” Boogie1488 takes.

    To paraphrase Engels:

These gentlemen think that when they have ascertained the names of things they have ascertained the very nature of the things themselves. This is how these profound thinkers mock at the whole world.

        It’s from On Authority:

When I submitted arguments [about the nature of authority] to the most rabid anti-authoritarians, the only answer they were able to give me was the following: Yes, that’s true, but there it is not the case of authority which we confer on our delegates, but of a commission entrusted!

These gentlemen think that when they have changed the names of things they have changed the things themselves. This is how these profound thinkers mock at the whole world.
