I don’t personally want to use hexbear (the ML posting annoys me for because I am a different far left ideology lol) but I think I’d probably like an instance that is friendly here and has downvotes (blahaj can’t downvote 😞).

I don’t really want to go to an anarchist instance if there even is one, since even though I identify with the anarchist tradition, I am a organisationalist which means most online anarchists annoy me too lol, and there aren’t enough anarchists that agree with me on the fedi to make it worth having our own instance lmao.

So which instances do youse like?

EDIT: Aight i’ll give this instance another go, but also to clarify I asked here because I like a lot of the posters but didn’t know if I wanted to see it 24/7? I clearly value your opinion since I asked here and not somewhere else lol, calm down

Hexbear is a left unity instance (maybe you are thinking of Lemmygrad, who has MLs only as a rule?). It’s true that we’ve got MLs, but we’ve also got AnComs, other Anarchists, Dengists, Maoists, some DemSocs, and even some Trots. I’m sure there’s additional tendencies represented on Hexbear that I’m leaving out.

Yeah I know there’s no rule against it but I’ll quote my other comment on why I didnt really vibe it as my home instance

The ML posting still annoys me enough to not make it my home instance, it’s kind of inescapable. I just honestly don’t care to hear any further discussion on China, Cuba, Soviets, etc. Outside of my organisations discussion circles or the MLs I organise with IRL lol.

We’ve definitely gotten that criticism before, obviously no one place will fit everyone but also it obviously sucks to hear we’re not quite living up to the left unity idea lol

I am a platformist, like the organisations in Anarkismo. I mostly want to discuss some politics but also computer shit, IT industry shit (ie. talk to other people in my industry, who are ideally more left wing than HN), and art + photography. TBH photography is mostly what I talk about online these days, but there isn’t a big photography community anywhere on the threadiverse I think.

This sounds interesting to me, but @[email protected] in particular has already posted about Anarkismo. Having another Anarkismo poster is great news!

Lots of IT folks, devs and otherwise here, myself included! We should really have a Hacker News emoji, because they’re one of my favorite places to dunk on for their Neoliberal takes and general bazinga-brainedness. r/programmingcirclejerk also dunks on Hacker News frequently, but I don’t visit reddit anymore after the API stuff, not to mention that r/PCJ seems to have shifted a bit rightwards over time, though maybe not permanently.

Maybe r/socialistprogrammers deserves a shoutout too (they were x-posted here sometimes before the API stuff), but [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected] are much more active. [email protected] has potential but is not active yet.

Indeed, photography is missing. We have [email protected], but that does not really cut it. Request a photography community in [email protected]?
