They hate that argument - likely because they’re well-aware on some level.

By continuing to prop up a given candidate not for their actual policies and skills but instead simply because they’re our party / they’re not other party, they’ve enabled mediocrity and incompetence for many cycles now - and we’re seeing the predictable results of that strategy.

This is the brain on partisanship.

Counterpoint: By voting for Biden you are casting a vote of approval empowering conservativism in the US because Biden is a conservative

I voted for Biden last time but if he’s the guy again in ‘24 I’m going to vote for a 3rd party candidate. It won’t matter where I live since the state will go blue but I hope it sends a message that ppl are (I am) getting tired of the D’s bs

whenever this happens the message libs claim to take from it is “if the berniebro tankies refuse to vote for us that means we need to move farther right”

before every election they have it loaded up and ready to go

The funny part is that even if the Bernie bro left comes out and votes for their candidate, then their excuse is “the Bernie bro left already will vote for us, so we need to move further right”.

Basically no matter what the left does, the center will use it as an excuse to move right

They would never acknowledge that Sanders supporters actually supported their side. More Sanders voters voted for Clinton than Clinton supporters voted for Obama, yet they and third party voters are blamed for Trump - despite Clinton getting millions more votes - as if we are a cabal that controls the electoral college

There’s a little irony in that the only way to break the partisan deadlock - which has shifted from anything voters give a shit about to the parties’ own favorite stances and issues - is to introduce a third party wild card.

I mean yes and no. Trump is a demon, but he’s lucid. When you consider how far right the American electorate is substance may matter less than delivery. Betting on the fundamental decency of the average American is probably a losing bet lol

But maybe you’re right and I should be giving people more credit. Either way we lose, hence the title of the post.

The real question would be what the material difference is between a geriatric whose kneejeek responses are to do whatever the NatSec and neoliberal ghouls want, or the one that fights with them occasionally in the dumbest way possible.

              IMO, very little policy-wise.

Trump was good for recruiting though. Libs absolutely went to sleep under Biden despite promises to “push him left” and there being almost no policy differences between them outside of Biden running a more effective imperialist state and cutting COVID benefits.

yeah. instead what they’re doing is measuring biden by age and deciding that it really isn’t that important who wins so why bother voting? this may come as a shock, but in a democracy, it’s usually good to demonstrate that you’re receptive to the concerns of the voters.

Any “serious” politician who primaries Biden would probably win. Its going to be 2016 all over again where the entire party falls in line behind a terrible candidate because of party unity or some horseshit

nah, the party structures are too ossified. 2016 was acrimonious, but it was theoretically an open seat. primarying an incumbent would be open treason, and the whole party would turn against them, even if they privately feel he’s the inferior choice. there’s no discipline when it comes to policy or setting an agenda, but there is when it’s about who gets a handjob and who gets slapped.
