No offense, because I understand a lot of the criticisms here, but do people really not care if the Republicans win?

Just remember that no matter how bad Biden is, the Republicans are going to be 10 times worse.

I am genuinely afraid of a Trump second term, and I really hope most of you are just trolling, because a lot of people are going to regret not voting when Trump finally wins.

In good faith, as a non-american looking in, you aren’t being given any real choice. You have a party that’s constantly trying to push further towards fascism, and you have a party that’s willing to enable that push without any significant resistance. Not only that, but the party that’s doing the pushing doesn’t even need to be the ones in power to make progress, because they know the enabler party is unwilling to use the power they have in any sort of effective way. Republicans have overturned Roe despite Biden being in power AND despite the fact that Democrats have been saying they’d codify it for years. Republicans are now introducing anti-trans legislation despite Biden being in power and I’ve seen next to no actual effective pushback from the Democratic party.

It’s like a water slide, you can just sit normally on the slide and go down at a normal pace or actively lean back and go down faster, but you’re going to end up in the pool either way. The way I see it, voting for either party still results in a slide towards fascism, the only harm reduction argument I can even see is that voting for Democrats would slow that slide by maybe a year or two at best.

Just know, as much as any individuals here might regret their votes, none of them will have a fraction as much impact as the inaction of the incumbent party when faced with rising fascism. People will remember “trump gave me money and Biden presided over the cutoff of pandemic services, not to mention the increase in overall poverty”

because a lot of people are going to regret not voting when Trump finally wins.

I’m not, just like how I didn’t regret not voting for any president my entire life.

There is not a single thing we can do to stop Trump from winning. Biden and the DNC however can do a ton of things right now to ensure it doesn’t happen, but they won’t because both they and their donors don’t want to because it’ll involve empowering the working class against the capital owning class

Voting in US presidential elections is farcical. If you don’t live in a select set of states, your vote is literally worthless, and the time spend voting could be spend doing literally anything else. This is what “go out and voot” libs constantly try to obfuscate. The vast majority of people on the Internet don’t live in Ohio and Georgia.

And this is assuming the national security state acting on behalf of financial capitalists won’t press the scale if Biden shows signs of losing to Trump. The Bidenomics stuff you mention in the news megathreads is working splendidly under Biden, but they always have a chance of being derailed under Trump, mostly because Trump is short-sighted and lacks the vision and patience to truly become a neocon ghoul while Biden either does as he’s told or enthusiastically marches lock-step with the rest of the ghouls. The ghouls had a taste of Trump and didn’t like what they had while Biden is their guy. It’s for this reason that I think Biden will probably beat Trump.

If I believed Biden would meaningfully stop the Republicans in any way, I would probably hold my nose and vote for him, but he won’t. The Democrats are the party that keeps reminding us that we “need a strong Republican party.” At that point, you have to admit that they’re all on the same team

Trump 2 will be very bad but Biden 2 is just gonna set up the country for someone even worse in 2028 since that will be 8 straight years liberals completely ignored politics while conservatives will get more and more mad. IMO those conditions will prime the pump for a deeply reactionary with a bigger and more politicized base to accomplish their agenda. I’m also not sure the planet can take 4 more years of most people not caring about politics while the democrats open up every piece of federal land to oil drilling while pretending to believe in climate change.

I’m not gonna fault someone for voting for Biden but I really wish people would focus on other forms of political organizing bc that’s where material change is gonna come from.

Just remember that no matter how bad Biden is, the Republicans are going to be 10 times worse.

I don’t want Biden or Trump to win, but this simply isn’t true anymore, not when it comes to immigration, police funding, military expansion, war, oil and drilling, for some people it sounds incredible to say but the Biden admin has the republicans beat on those issues by a significant margin
