  • The other day, I was questioned on whether I “actually am a leftist”, by a friend. After I nervously answered fairly basic questions such as believing in healthcare and collective labor, they weren’t convinced. Ever since that day, I felt like I couldn’t be a leftist, especially since I lost any confidence in my ability to be “better” according to that person’s standards. If I couldn’t satisfy their standards that one time, what would be the point of trying to read theory and trying again? Yes I admit, I haven’t tried to read theory. I have no confidence that I would do it correctly.

This is why you’re supposed to join an org. Most serious orgs have an onboarding process where you’ll be taught basic precepts and foundational texts of the ideology embraced by that particular org. You’ll also be assigned to do work by the org, and be build up to become someone who embodies the ideals of the org. You have imposter syndrome because you haven’t done anything to advance the emancipatory project, and you haven’t done anything to advance the emancipatory project because you are not part of an org.

Unless you’re some rich multimillionaire quietly funding underground Maoist insurgent cells, you’ll not be able to contribute unless you’re part of an org. If there are no suitable orgs near you, your responsibility is to either create your own org or support other orgs. Creating your own org is self-explanatory in a “draw the rest of the fucking owl” sense. Supporting other orgs can range from financially supporting them to doing agiprop for them. Even if you’re the only leftist in a sea of Christofascists, you can still contribute to the cause. But you can’t do this on your own. None of us can.

  • Pretty cool for Xi to namedrop Mariategui:

Xi Jinping arrives in Peru to unveil the largest and most modern port in South America, built by China

“As early as more than 400 years ago, the people of China and Peru started friendly exchanges through the Maritime Silk Road and the Manila Galleons…”

“Through the wisdom of our civilizations, our minds find common ground and our hearts resonate… Peruvian thinker José Carlos Mariátegui once said, “Spiritually and materially, China is closer to us than Europe. The psychology of our people is more Asian than Western…””

"The world is undergoing faster transformation unseen in a century. Humanity has again come to a crossroads in history. To fully appreciate the grandeur of the Nazca Lines, we must view them from a height because at the ground level, their true splendor remains hidden from view.

To quote a Chinese poem to the same effect, ‘Fear not the clouds that obscure your view, for you stand atop the highest summit.’

China is ready to join Peru in embracing a broader vision and grasping the underlying trends of our times from a long historical perspective to champion true multilateralism, promote an equal and orderly multipolar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, jointly implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, and build together a community with a shared future for mankind."

  • The empire only existed on paper. In practice, there were multiple polities and those polities relied on preexisting bureaucracies that the Mongols inserted themselves into at the top instead of dismantling. Technically speaking, the Yuan dynasty applied to the entire empire instead of just China, meaning Yuan dynasty and Mongol empire are completely synonymous, but that didn’t reflect reality on the ground at all.

And the Yuan dynasty itself was just another Chinese dynasty. The Mongols did a few things different like penning multiple annals of the previous dynasties without picking which dynasty was legitimate. Traditionally, each dynasty would pen an annals of the previous dynasty they overthrew as a means of legitimizing themselves as well as the previous dynasty. (As an aside, the ROC tried to draft a History of the Qing so you can get an idea how deeply rooted the idea of writing a history of your predecessors is in Chinese political culture.) When there were multiple coexisting dynasties, the subsequent dynasty that is not one of the coexisting dynasties would specify which dynasty was legitimate and which dynasties weren’t. The Mongols broke from Chinese political tradition by simultaneously legitimizing all of the dynasties they conquered, in this case Song, Jin, and another dynasty I’m blanking on.

This is just one example, but it goes to show how little institutional change the Mongols enacted for their conquered region. When you get to complete minutia like specifying where exactly the Mandate of Heaven came from before being bestowed onto the Great Khan, it just shows how willing the Mongols were open towards adapting to whatever political institution and tradition they found themselves ruling over.

Another initiative by the Netanyahu administration involves cooperation with German intelligence and Zionist organizations in Germany to recruit asylum seekers from Afghanistan, Libya, and Syria. Over the past seven months, the Values Initiative Association and the German–Israeli Association (DIG) have worked to enlist these refugees from war-torn Muslim-majority countries as mercenaries for Israel.

Offered monthly salaries ranging between €4,000 to €5,000 and fast-tracked German citizenship, many have joined the fight. Reports suggest that around 4,000 immigrants were naturalized between September and October alone.

After the start of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, Germany imposed further restrictions on citizenship applicants from Arab and Muslim countries, requiring them to make pledges not to criticize Israel or show sympathy for Palestinians as a litmus test for naturalization.

In early November 2024, Germany introduced a law for compulsory conscription of these Arab and Muslim applicants, claiming an intent to fill manpower shortages. Yet, this conscription would not involve service in Germany – a stipulation that has left many of these refugees wary of who and where they could end up fighting.

  • Maybe we need another mega to quarantine speculation on Trump appointees. I’m started to get sick and tired of the speculations. That’s literally what they are: pointless speculation. Trump ain’t president yet, Rubio isn’t secretary of state until he gets sworn in as secretary of state, and so on. And little will change on the international front. They can rah rah rah about China all day, but when everything is said and done, the Trump administration is going to focus on the Zionist entity because the IOF is getting stomped by the Axis of Resistance. Them pivoting away from Ukraine is a given with how much the IOF is floundering. The US got what they want out of Ukraine ie the vassalage of Europe, but the Zionist entity is under existential threat, so the pivot away from Ukraine is inevitable whether it’s in a Biden, Harris, or Trump regime. I think the IOF still haven’t captured a single Lebanese village. And Yemen just recently attacked another US carrier.
