My friends are playing it. I can’t tell if they’re enjoying it or not, but they keep playing it.
Which seems to be the case with most MOBAs.
How many times are people gonna fall for the meme
I’m gonna fall for it til half life 3 is released
HL3 was released, it’s called Half Life Alyx and it’s the most mind-blowing game I’ve played since the PS1 came out
I think it loses a few points on the “best game ever” scale for making you rent an apartment with a spare empty room to dance around in while wearing an expensive helmet.
Yeh. VR is extremely cool and extremely inaccessible. Back when i was more techno-utopian I was really hoping the cost would come down drastically so more people could experience it. It really is a completely transformative media, something really, truly new. But the expense and logistics of it means it’ll likely never realize it’s potential.
I wish i could play it… i even have the fancy vr thing but i have 0 space in this house to actually use it beyond anything where i can just sit or stand at my desk
no
just get one for cheap off of ebay and cram all your shit into the corners of the tiny storeroom you sleep in like I had to, it doesn’t take that much room to play the game at minimum
A friend gave me his old VR set and after smacking my hand into my ceiling fan several times and falling onto my bed I packed that shit up and put it away.
It really blows me away the amount of empty space the techbros think regular people have in their homes.
Between the amount of space required and the amount of people who can’t even put on a headset without experiencing vertigo it’s very silly to me how much capital must of been spent developing these things vs how impractical they are.
I played the whole game all the way through in an 8x6’ space, I really think you’re making it out to be worse than it is
Anyway it’s a shame you couldn’t enjoy it, it truly was the most amazing game I’ve played in a very long time, there was a specific part like halfway through that had me wide-eyed with awe
You have some good spatial awareness. I played in a big space and still ran into walls. I think it’s personal preference, honestly.
it looks incredibly interesting, ALL the characters are full of personality, even without voicelines, visual novels or the final design models, everything about these wacky motherfuckers is genuinely just fucking BRIMMING with character, everything about them just clicks, the way they run and move, the way they ride the cable car lines, the way they dress, the guns they use, how they shoot, how they reload.
it’s like every little detail was designed carefully and thought out thoroughly and i fucking love every single one of them even without knowing anything about the nebulous cloud that’s called ‘‘lore’’.
HOWEVER, on the downside; it’s a fucking MOBA
The MOBA part is what’s keeping me away. I’ve never enjoyed a single MOBA.
It’s really good, but also doesn’t have a monetary strategy ATM and it’s still being heavily developed so stuff changes a lot. I like it but have taken a break only because I’ve not had the time to play something that’s 30-60min games with the few hours I’m not working
It’s really cool. had a lot of fun even when I was losing, but I haven’t played in a while. Isn’t there a new character that is a soviet?
it’s really funny because it’s deranged, annoying VALVe white guy libertarianism strikes again.
he’s indeed soviet, but the soviet leader is fucking uhhhhhh… Catherine the great??? anyways, i can already see the brain bugs that will emerge from this in the future, just like whatever they did with the Heavy in Team fortress 2 ‘‘oh, don’t worry about your favorite character being an evil soviet russian, he’s totally epic chungus! he was a monarchist white in the middle of World War 2 ’’
he’s indeed soviet, but the soviet leader is fucking uhhhhhh… Catherine the great???
Holy shit I forgot that about the character, lmaoooo. What even is the thought process to arrive at such an abomination? lol
Being surrounded by padded rooms full of money and internalizing the 90s high-school education and college political science that they ignored for modding Quake. Truly I think some of the education in the 90s was absolute bat-shit insane. They have some better standards nowadays but it was really a wild west on anti-communist myths after the USSR fell.
how do i play it?
Believe there’s beta codes for it now. Should be able to ask around. I haven’t tried it myself because MOBAs are dogshit.
sounds like too much work… ill just wait
Honestly, Valve games usually come with a pricy market. Getting the beta and/or playing when it comes out to grab some stuff isn’t a bad idea because you could come back like 8 years later and they’re worth like 1,400 dollars. Think old cs:go skins.
oh for sure… i don’t even want to think about how much money i gave away after having played TF2 for as long as I did… I had pretty much every single cosmetic item there was but I had no idea there was real money in it and i gifted it all to someone on the server i always played on just before i decided it was taking up too much of my life
i will never play a moba
To me it’s hilarious. “Hmmm…our biggest shooter game has a serious issue with bots. We should make one but with MOBA bullshit added instead!”
tbf they seem to have addressed the bots in the last few months… tf2 is my favourite and the neglect does make me sad though. it seems like the people yearn for arena shooters but the esports market demands slop like this. dota 2 is gabe’s baby as well famously
The most egregious examples, yes. I play TF2 often and it still has client/cheater issues, which is exactly going to be what is abused in a new MOBA game where Valve is known for it’s high-value markets.
I agree with you though, TF2 is a foster child at this point. Robin Walker just let it rot for a long time.
Ratchet Deadlocked? The north American name for the co-op third person shooter Ratchet Gladiator? I love that game. It might not be as good as the original three Ratchet games, but it was a nice change of pace!
About time it saw the recognition it deserves!
