No wonder the Red Ring of Death was a thing back then. I still remember the people “fixing” the red right of death by wrapping the original Xbox 360 in a towel and heating it up/overheating it on purpose, to try “reflow the circuits” picard

Yeah apparently it would fix it and then the Xbox 360 would work for a few months to a year, but then the issue would return, and eventually the motherboard would warp from overheating and the console would stop working all together. So a temporary fix that would work a few times, until it completely stopped working. At least that’s what I’ve heard, I’ve never owned an Xbox.

I still have my original slim PlayStation 3. That thing must be around 13 years old now, maybe older. I’ve had to replace the thermal paste multiple times though. My original slim PlayStation 2 only broke because the ribbon cable for the disc drive got severed during a fall, I think I tripped over the wired controller, which caused it to fall.

my Wii went through the washing machine three times, fell out of the back of my truck on the highway (couldn’t find it for three days), and I had it in my front pocket when I got shot at and it blocked a couple .45 rounds, saving my life. Still plays guitar hero 3 and project M just fine. gigachad

You joke, but I remember having an original Motorola Droid and running over it in a car after leaving it on the bumper in a parking lot. Then a couple days later having it fall off the car again while driving on the beach and it still worked.

My brother found out that just punching the top after you pulled the sides off fixed it. There were literal fist marks and broken plastic on top of his, but it worked.

Guess percussive maintenance would temporarily re-connect the circuit or something lol
