Britain didn’t have slaves in chains in London. The only difference is that the slavery is happening over seas. Out of sight, out of mind.
The moral side in this conflict is with the freed slaves and native tribes, both of which overwhelmingly sided with the Brits. They didn’t exactly have a great choice between the colonists who were actively killing them and the distant empire that had kinda sorta said something about not killing them as much, though.
