Recovery falls into the scope of /c/self_improvement.
I think we should, however, have a something like /c/harm_reduction. The scope of a comm like that may be a bit too NSFW for Hexbear Dot Net, so, what a coincidence that I’ve been thinking how lovely it would be to have a harm reduction/totally-fictional-stories-about-illicit-drug-use Lemmy instance, which will eventually expand in scope to become like a forum for the dirtiest among the dirtbag left—not Bong Water Bolsheviks, but fucking Strung Out Stalinists, bitch.
I agree with you. It’s bugged me for a while that there aren’t really any explicitly leftist recovery programs. Like AA/NA are based almost entirely on dogma, they might as well be cults. A materialist perspective on addiction looks a lot a bit different. Simplest way I can sum it up is; we use because our lives are bad, we’re ALL alienated and unfulfilled under capitalism, no wonder people become writhing husks of excessive consumption.
It seems out of place with the com’s emphasis on health and exercise.
