This drives me crazy too, and they always cite fucking dogs as an example of “subspecies” to back up this dumb shit even though dog breeds are not genetically distinct at all and are just various types of super-habsburg-jaw

Wait no, don’t give the ideas. Next you know they’ll double down on eugenics. Try to get all the good stuff for white people so they can spend cradle to grave just partying it up, and the rest of us are reprogrammed to think of nothing except doing all the menial labor for them a la Brave New World

You could probably compare the idea of human race to creating vague categories for natural variation in fur coat color/pattern within the same breed of dog. It’s just lumping people of different physical appearances together, there’s no genetic marker for race, and there’s obviously no clear concept of it

This guy’s on a whole other level, citing misleading pseudoscience to claim human races are entirely different species, akin to wolves and coyotes. Meanwhile a random black person will often be more genetically similar to a random white person than another black person.

There’s more genetic variation between 2 communities of chimpanzees separated by a river than all genetic variation in 8 billion humans. Zero basis for us being different sub-species, let alone species. Humans might have diverse phenotypes, but we’re extremely genetically alike compared to other species.

Seems like an impossible task to somehow make these clowns understand just how little time humans have been around for and how much intercommunity sex has characterized our relatively short history

Dog breeds have less genetic diversity between them than cat breeds do. Dogs just have a lot of traits that small genetic changes lead to large phenotypic differences.

Its just easier to make dogs look different than most animals

They have more chromosomes and the nature of their variation is different compared to humans. A professor of mine talked about it, there are some peculiarities that make stuff like breeding on dogs possible.

As well, if dogs are left to mate independently in the wild after a few generations they return to looking like wolfies.

I know coyotes are just wild dogs (they can breed with pet dogs), and tbh dogs looking more like coyotes would be a good thing, they and wolves are cute and charismatic already

Not to mention that dog breeds were usually the result of centuries of incest and eugenics, Africa is the most genetically diverse continent as a whole so it’s not like those bad bad black people can even remotely be called a “breed” of humans. On top of that, why is it that those bad bad black people usually are more genetically different from other bad bad black people than the wholesome chungus whites?

Regardless, usually I find that these evolutionary psychologists are Christians, and therefore believe in free will. Wouldn’t it be blasphemy to make such sweeping judgments about large swathes of people, writing them off as ‘all the same’?

In my experience the free will stuff is more often understood as an ad hoc justification for why their leadership gets to wash their hands of any and all responsibility for the suffering around them
