Somebody I know in a country where abortion is illegal is asking if I (currently in United States) could get pills for them to terminate a pregnancy. Can they be acquired online or in person (like at planned parenthood?) and then shipped to said person? How early would they need to get the pill for it to be effective?

    Yes, absolutely. I’m not sure about nationwide programs, but there is almost certainly something in your area. I’m no longer involved, but I know some of the people who were involved years ago with this org: https://www.yellowhammerfund.org/our-programs/

    They are legit and if no one else here knows anything, I would reach out to Yellowhammer even if you aren’t in their region (AL, MS, FL). They probably know a lot of other orgs doing the same thing.

    Edit: plan B is 5 days or sooner after unprotected sex, but there are abortion meds that can be highly effective for months into pregnancy. Mifepristone and misoprostol are the meds that are taken one after the other to end a pregnancy.
