Lol. Lmao even.
I’ve had several attempts. So I feel nothing but contempt for those pieces of shit that make disgusting jokes about it and amuse themselves with the suffering of others.
Like, was it really necessary to write this and make it the second most upvoted comment?
Reddit humor
CW: more suicide
I remember a few years back before the GameStop thing, r/wallstreetbets had a particular stock that a lot of people had purchased, but it didn’t pan out well and a lot of people lost money. Somebody bought an ad on the subreddit for an Amazon listing for rope.
Just giving people enough rope to hang themselves with, it’s literally a saying
That saying refers to allowing someone to do what they want in the expectation that they’ll screw themselves over. I have no idea where you got the idea it involves advertising literal rope.
C’mon Dr. Owl, do I really need to explain this?
These people are making a choice to overexpose themselves to risk during a period of great economic uncertainty and are now regretting their actions. You could even say they did what they want and are getting screwed over.
I did not comment on whether it’s an appropriate expression for the situation in general, I said it’s not linked to selling literal rope to people after they’ve been screwed. I don’t know why I expected reading comprehension from someone who thinks Dr and Professor are interchangeable though.
How do I make the jacking off motion in emojis, Professorrrrrr?
Why are you calling me professor, can you not tell the difference between a title and a username? And change instance.
Nah I’m good
I assure you it’s just a suicide joke, no one on that subreddit is smart enough to think of anything deeper than that.
i’m terminally depressed, y’all have my permission to laugh at this
same
Wonder if wallstreetbets gonna have one too. Given my already low opinion of redditors these things start coming across as gimmick or tongue in cheek rather than genuine given how regularly they treat human life as a joke
Real talk though, I hope they use the hotline and it’s useful for people.
there’s no hotline for fixing the deeply rooted social problems that cause this. if you’re lucky the hotline does nothing, if you’re unlucky you get involuntary medical debt
The stock crash isn’t as bad as past ones, why are they panicking? Did they not diversify their savings?
