    Of all the things the Dems opposed, it was the debt ceiling.

    Trump and Musk just had their first taste of a skirmish with the establishment. The first of many to come. If this isn’t a lesson, then they’ll have to learn the hard way why the system wouldn’t just let them do whatever they like.

      It’ll be interesting to see which way the thing breaks. One of the main differences between the Republicans and the Democrats has been the ability to whip votes, at least in recent memory.

      I think it makes some sense for Dems to do it, debt ceiling is a (small) barrier to Trump’s plans.

      And Trump has opportunistically used the same in the past too. Suspending it in 2018 (until 2019) and calling for a ceiling just before Brandon.
