It’s fare thee well my old true lover. I never expect to see you again. For I’m bound to ride that northern railroad. Perhaps I’ll die upon this train.
I think this is the best Coens movie. I’ve seen all of them except The Man Who Wasn’t There, and hot take they have a lot of bangers but this one is just so tight.
John Goodman as the cyclops was an inspired casting choice.
Dude never phoned in a role
Not even on Roseanne
Genuinely true
This is one of my favorite movies to quote. I probably say “I don’t get it, Big Dan.” at least once a week.
This was the first version of this song I ever heard, but I think my all time favorite is:

Clip from Pete Seeger’s public access show from the 60s, when he had on the New Lost City Ramblers. A ton of the old episodes are on YouTube, many great old folk and bluegrass shows
the pizza tapes has always been a favored take for me
Hell yeah, never heard that one despite knowing Jerry did some bluegrass. Thanks
This was awesome. I don’t think I’ve ever actually listened to any other versions of this song before.
Hell yeah, glad you liked it! I love folk and bluegrass because there are so many awesome songs that every artist does a version of
I listen to this whole album. Good shit.
This whole album is pretty good. Can a Hexbear get a few other recommendations similar to this?
Check out Tony Rice. He not only made a lot of music along the same vein as Constant Sorrow, but he was a masterful guitarist.
Here are a couple songs: The Tony Rice Unit - Blue Railroad Train
Mark O’Connor, Tony Rice, Bela Fleck, Sam Bush - “Freeborn Man”
Check the artists who contributed to the album, they all have great stuff worth listening to. Would highly recommend the Stanley Brothers, and also the Kossoy Sisters.
Also Pete Seeger had a public access show called Rainbow Quest, that’s mostly all on YouTube, where he has on folk and bluegrass bands to play and tell stories. Would highly recommend
this is definitely not what you’re asking for, but if you like rock, country, disco, funk, blues, rock and hip hop, you might enjoy Odelay! by Beck
Crooked Still (highly recommend)
The Duhks

hot damn, it’s the soggy bottom boys!
that’s such a good movie
My grandpa didn’t really listen to any music. In fact in all the years I knew him I don’t think I ever heard him listen to any. After he passed my brother randomly clicked the eject disc button in his truck and the movie soundtrack for o brother where art thou? slid out. We’ve been bluegrass fans ever since.
