The article is mostly about Kari Lake being on her show, but wow.

“Kamala, she’s got citizenship issue,” Barr claimed, which is a baseless accusation, of course. “Did you see her where she tries to act like she’s human? They’re on the third clone with her. … She’s just [controlled by former President Barack] Obama, so he’s already on his third term destroying our country. And then so if he gets her in there, that’ll be his fourth term. He’s a little tyrant.”

As the conversation progressed, Lake suggested that Barr ought to run for president, which Barr asserted was unnecessary “because in 2012, I declared myself the de facto president of the American people for life.”

However much is fair to lay on the media, the people that make up the audience for those two are more to blame. The media wouldn’t give Kanye and Roseanne the time of day if they didn’t each have eager audiences.

I kinda get what you are saying but a more apt analogy would be comparing the media to the drug dealers and manufacturers rather than the drug war.

Yes. And in that metaphor, the drug users aren’t the ones to blame in the end. It’s a combination of drug dealers, manufacturers,

And the blind and persistent arrogance of the State, in constantly overreaching to try and do what is impossible. Actually establish prohibition.

So similarly to how you need to solve the drug crisis, by systemic reform, legalization and de-commercialization-

You’d also solve the problem by destroying the corporate monopoly of power. Media doesn’t need to have such a strong incentive to create any and all content that people will watch. That’s only a side effect of capitalism. A different and more social society could leave more room for niche media.

I think your metaphor doesn’t hold up as well when Roseanne gets added to the equation. That is very much niche media. Infact a lot of harmful and extreme content seems to thrive in niche media without the backing of corporate media.
