I live in the U.S. (for less than one more week now!) and currently, the closest place for me to buy groceries is five miles down a four lane highway. No sidewalks, obviously. You would be safe from cars walking on the median, less safe from poison ivy, ticks and lime disease since they don’t exactly care about keeping them well-mowed in the summer.

I can already see that things will be different in the place where we will be temporarily living in the UK (Blackburn).

Imagine if you lived somewhere that your disability would be considered and accommodated for, so you were given an electric mobility scooter or other, more sensible and less dangerous transport for those one mile situations…

I just want to know if you can automate workers again, because I always get to a point with a worker where I’m like, “okay, I still need you but not for anything important right now, so you go off and do your thing and I’ll come get you later” and just stopping them from doing anything seems pointless when they can build you a massive road or rail network without you having to worry about it. I stopped playing 6 when I realized I was going to have to either minimize my number of workers, have ridiculously long turns, or just create a bunch of spare workers and have them stay in one place until I need them and I really didn’t like any of those options. I gave up on 6 pretty quickly specifically for that reason. It was just too much of a grind.

No. I’m sorry. This is about choice. It has always been about choice and it will always be about choice and we should not avoid that fact.

No one should be forced to have their body used for someone else’s benefit unless they choose to. It’s that simple. We even make that true about corpses. You have the choice of whether or not your body parts are used for the benefit of others after you die.

A CEO can’t decide to put people above profits because they will be replaced if they do.

CEOs are not emperors. The problem isn’t individual CEOs, the problem is capitalism.

Do you think UHC is going to change its policies in any major way because of this? If it was self-defense, it was not very good self-defense. Like any other employee in a giant corporation, the CEO is easily replaced with someone else who will do the exact same job. Possibly an even better (from the company’s perspective) job.

This does nothing to help all of the people who are being destroyed by the for-profit insurance industry.
