yeah the first two are well-regarded because people played them with friends in college. the writing in 3 is way worse somehow also we’re not in college anymore.
i didnt have friends or go to college so i’m not sure that’s the only reason people liked them lol. but yeah i do recall 3 being actively disliked. i wasn’t super into the first two myself and thought it was okay but a step down from the previous ones
yeah other people like it besides college educated 35-40 year olds but borderlands as a zeitgeist game is very middle-millennial because of that social context.

eh, the first game is mechanically interesting and there’s some good writing in 2. unfortunately randy pitchford exists and doesn’t eat at medieval times anymore.
