An interesting video essay I stumbled across the other day. Decently put together. There would have been some in the proto goth/post punk section I might have featured a bit more. Though I think they made some good picks.

It was largely rehashing things for me. But I’ll still be interested to see the next part. If you are unfamiliar with the history this is a decent short dive so far.

Sisters of Mercy toured with Public Enemy? That’s kinda funny.

Several bands mentioned here that I’m not familiar with, I gotta look em up and listen.

The tour got canceled mid way through. But the late 80s early 90s was a bit of an odd period for sure. Look at the lineup for the first Lollapalooza.

Yes they did and I was there. Somewhere in Miami is all I remember. It was… interesting.

Yes i definitely like some of the deep cuts they picked for the proto goth list. Though i might have made a point highlighting the stones and paint it black a little more. It is one of the more covered songs in goth rock after all.

The breakout for death rock like Christian death, 45 grave, and kommunity fk was nice as well

Heh got me beat by a few years. But yeah, I have fond memories hearing them in 1985s return of the living dead. Perfect use of the track too. Who but Romero?
