The mass starvation is not what the media and NGOs care about to the exclusion of bombings, but it is the prelude to a very sudden increase in deaths, an unignorable number, and they want to get ahead of this and begin hand-wringing so they can pretend to have always been against this despite actually supporting it for 2 years. It is a successor to “we are working hard on a ceasefire” and “look we are providing air dropped aid”, i.e. cynical PR.
they are also doing a big push right now to set up a Palestinian “state” with no sovereignty run by Palestinian Authority (who everyone in Palestine hates). That’s why France, Canada, England, etc. all are suddenly talking about recognizing Palestine “with conditions” (no Hamas, surrender all arms).
This is part of a last ditch effort by the west to settle this colonizing “peacefully” in a political/diplomatic way before Israel finishes the extermination by force. It’s the “good cop” option.
