Back on the wagon again, hit 24 hours earlier today. But besides not vaping I just can’t believe the heat. I’m naked in my house and I’ve had the ac on since this morning and it’s like once the sun hits around 2 pm the house just cooks, it’s so bad.

UGH

And it makes sleeping so miserable too even with the fan on me.

You must be to the east of me. I just worked my third day in a row in the bakery with no climate control and I had to pick up everyone’s slack. I’m so tapped out, and I saw something on the way home that was just the shit cherry on top of the shit sundae that this week has been so far.

This heat is ridiculous and our bosses have done nothing to relieve us. One of my managers went camping during it and came back all chipper and was talking about all the fancy new shit they bought

    Makes me want to fedposting

CW: animal harm. Also, not trying to co-opt your post. Fuck sake I can’t figure out how to hide the text

! I saw someone hit a cat with a car in our little downtown section in our tiny town. The speed limit is 25 and they had plenty of time to stop, they just weren’t paying attention. The family was out in their yard too. As far as I could tell, the car didn’t stop to see what happened either. The cat definitely didn’t make it. I’ll be seeing that for a while when I close my eyes. I don’t eat animals and cats are probably my favorite. I cried all the way home. Some of it was just general stress, but I don’t do well with animal death even if it’s an “accident”. !<

Protip: if you are willing to get a little fat, you can counteract much of the nicotine cravings by eating candy. Low blood sugar is a major factor in the cravings

When it was over 100F here a few years ago, I was taking a cold shower every 45-60 minutes just to survive. On a slightly cooler day (like 95F), I was able to get to the coast where it was at least 10 degrees cooler and the water was life-giving in its frigidity.

    window units or central?

I empathize w the heat. It was only 93 for the high but the humidity has been consistently 85%+ every day. I’m doing utility work, digging holes in the dirt for water and gas lines. I’m a bit parched end of the day.

Cold water to drink, ice cubes in a wet rag on a major artery helps. Neck, underarm or groin. It can be a PITA, but it does work. One day at a time with the nicotine. It’ll catch, eventually. It took me a while, but eventually it stuck.
