I picked up one of these inexpensive emulator handhelds and I’m looking for new games to try
Little Nemo for the NES is one of my favorite games of all time. It’s hard af, kinda janky, and I never got farther than a few levels in, but I’ve put hundreds of hours into it as a kid.
I don’t know if Golden Sun is obscure but I’ve played most of that and it’s a good JRPG. They’re great on emulators since you can fast forward through most of it.
Dunkey has a great video on Donkey Kong on the GB. It’s great on something like this since you have the physical buttons
The Guardian Legend for NES is good, like if the Legend of Zelda and 1942 (the vertical shoot-em-up) got smashed together
And if you can find it, Gunple: The Gunman’s Proof is also very good, basically being a Link to the Past but with guns and Earthbound styled humor
The SNES and Sega Jurassic Park games, Metal Warriors, Worms for the NES, Rampart.
Sega Jurassic Park was the shit. Never played the SNES one
It had a top down overworld and then dungeons that were first person in very early pre doom fps mechanics it was pretty rad
