For this Special Thursday Cinema Night, 8PM EST, there is no special theme, just two more good films. First up is Shame (2011), a drama starring Michael Fassbender as a man who is addicted to sex, but unable to form any emotional attachment to any woman. This lifestyle is disrupted when his sister moves in with him, and he starts going insane, because she knows him too well, apparently. Sounds like this is ripe for some psychoanalysis. director is Steve McQueen, who has popped up a few times already on Hextube: we have watched his films Hunger (2008), Mangrave (2020), and Lovers Rock (2020). Excellent reviews for this one, so let’s check it out.

After that is a prime piece of slop, Eega (2012), an Indian action-fantasy-comedy about a man who is murdered by an evil businessman and reincarnated as a housefly. He uses his newfound body to pursue revenge in increasingly absurd fashion. It has a bit of everything: action setpieces, musical numbers, romance, sci-fi, slapstick, and so on. Director is S.S. Rajamouli, the guy behind the similarly maximalist RRR (2022), which we previously watched.
