Why not just “capitalists”?
Capitalist on its own isn’t enough of a dirty word to most Americans.
Yet.
carpet baggers is what I call these scum.
Unfortunately, many people with Native ancestry here are “land rich, money poor,” which is what speculators are banking on. Fortunately a lot of them are on the more north side of the island, which didn’t burn. But it’s bad, and Maui was rapidly turning into Oahu even before the fire.
