Class interests, I think: whether they are fully aware of it or not, line only goes up if there’s enough surplus labor producing surplus labor value. The ruling class doesn’t add to that value: it feeds on it. Vampire imagery is not new to Marxism, nor is the idea of the ruling class sucking.
