I was asking what distro is best for people to give current opinions on the subject, not because I cannot google very basic cut and dry info. I appreciate that you are trying to help but I am not about to sit here for hours typing the name of every game I might be interested in playing, so that someone else can read it and check it for me, were you about to spend your entire night checking games I listed for me? Yeah, I’ve tried, and it doesn’t help. Also that does nothing for the fact that they are going to stop supporting Win10 sooner than later, and since my computer won’t run Win11 that means losing all security. Not to mention the microsoft using my data for nefarious reasons, constantly adding new bloatware garbage, and harvesting my data to use to train their AI.

I am done with windows, I am done with microsoft, and why am I having to explain my reasons and motivations for this in the Linux lemmy of all places? Do you work for microsoft or something???

The entire point of this post is I want to leave windows, I am sick and tired of microsoft spyware and bloatware slowing my already old computer down, and Windows 10 will not be supported for much longer.

This is not “technological paranoia” this is actually admitting we live in a capitalist society where everything is monetized and controlled by corporations. You are living in a fantasy if you don’t understand that these technologies CAN and WILL be used to maximize profit, and society CAN and WILL become accustomed to this.

AI will replace anything that it saves or makes money to do so, to say otherwise is naive and/or willfully ignorant at best, you will gladly sell entire industries to the corporation to save a dollar and applaud them for doing it. Automation did the same thing, and you are a liar or a fool if you suggest otherwise, when was the last time you did laundry by hand?

Cool so, how does one become an artist without commissions, or once the big studios get their teeth into AI, without any job at all?

A modern take on the (pre-NGE) Star Wars Galaxies style MMO, mainly the social aspects like player housing and player driven crafting system it had. We have still not seen such a deep crafting and resource system as SWG had in any game since.

While there are still private servers around in abundance, they are all too small to properly support the social aspects properly, and the dated engine really hold it back. A newer game engine and some modern QOL and UI changes is all you really need, and although the Star Wars IP would be great it would be fine with a lesser IP or fully unique setting.

There have been a few indie attempts at this but none have finished development, with the most recent one pivoting to AI and then going dark earlier this year, though to be fair indie MMO have a pretty bad track record for actually completing.

They were playing a game of Hedbanz / Headbands / Celebrity , and one of them had The Good Witch Glinda from Wizard of Oz as their character, and they are arguing about them not guessing it based on the clues.
