Its a joke about either your mom being fat or your mom believing there’s a future under the current regime that she will be invited to if she shrinks herself enough and behaves right. Its a sick somewhat ableist burn either way.

  • I think, like being queer, there is no clear answer, and looking for one is kind of missing the point?

Like, does it matter whether someone is queer or gender non conforming from birth or from last Tuesday, to anyone who’s not a massive piece of shit?

And trying to answer that definitively kills a bunch of nuance and creates lots of biphobia and is just generally awful.

Furs are pretty similar there. Are you this thing? Do you like to do this thing? Have you always wanted to try this thing? These can all have different answers, or the same, and it’s fine.

  • Youre married to a specific corpo shit thing that is shit and specifically does not support Linux, on purpose. Google is fighting you, they are making this hard. And your ux (probably gnome or KDE) is what looks like it has the solution here. Try that instead of acting like a libchild. Dual boot or whatever til you find a thing that works (windows updates gave been known to kill dual boots partitioned on same physical drive)

And the reason to switch isn’t because it’s ‘so easy’. I made a kind of linger post somewhere in this thread on it.

  • I have no clue; I don’t touch that corpo garbage, but if there’s not and yyou can’t, and wine doesn’t work:

Run a windows (or android? Android seems lighter) VM, give it no permissions it doesn’t need, sandbox the fuck out of it, then sync from there.

Edit: quick search reveals likeliest solutions are tied into the ux… Thingies, forget what they’re called. Like KDE and gnome. Try the one for yours; gnome and KDE generally have their shit together.

  • Its a little more free in literature, and since 2020 some good(ish) stuff is getting made.

‘Lovecraft country’ (one absolutely fire season, tied up and concluded) if Malcolm x was a riff on 20th century fiction, primarily the Lovecraft mythos. Not if he did one; if he was one. It says and does more in its first episode than most shows do in a decade of long seasons. Has a beautiful sex scene that’s ambiguously gay or trans and so gory it might not make it onto a theater screen, and thats not even the most interesting thing going on in that scene.

‘Andor’ (final planned season in production) is a prequel to the one good star wars movie. Its extremely lefty, extremely well made at every level, and tense with zero sword wizards.

‘Severance’ (second season delayed by strikes, in production) is an ontological mystery that explores cognitive dissonance corpo infantilization and the exploitation of labor, how it interacts with self, the theft of time, relationships, self-knowledge, all kinds of shit. Funny, surreal, dramatic when it needs to be, excellent visual direction.
