That’s a good approach. But people aren’t tech savvy enough to install NewPipe in order to avoid ads. Paying for YT premium is the most user friendly way to avoid ads and support creators.
Could be one of the many reasons such as ensuring their favorite creators get paid for their views and end users not being tech savvy enough to know about ad blockers and NewPipe.
In my experience, it has been smooth in the past.
FYI atom project is dead. There is a community form available but it was to buggy for me.

It’s more likely that ad networks are showing you ads based on the other person being in vicinity and having things in common. I don’t think voice snooping is the main cause here
I’ve donated in the past to elementaryOS, other Linux projects and separately to Wikipedia.
I’ve tried contributing code, but it’s miniscule. I wish I could give more time.
