sinceasdf@lemmy.worldto Android@lemdro.id•Do fast-charging phones still harm battery health? I tested them to find outEnglish2·4 个月前I agree with the idea of properly owning your device, but its pretty rare I need root access and it’s not all that hard for me to enable it if I truly needed it. Turns out graphene has an option built in to limit charging to 80% and I use slow chargers already so I actually don’t need it here either.
There are pretty solid security reasons to keep it locked down. It’s an attack vector that allows easily superceding the otherwise highest permissions on your device.

sinceasdf@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the dumbest thing you've done to fix a tech issue?151·4 个月前I was an apple tech for a time. With iPads that were out of warranty (basically go buy a new one or GTFO) and exhibiting a certain display issue, I would take it in the back and slam the thing on a counter at a certain angle. Worked every time for that particular problem.
It’s describing a psychological barrier, like you have a limited amount of mental space for a really ‘knowing’ people. People are complex and varying and it takes a lot of space and effort to learn their differences (and that’s important, some people can be dangerous or whatever). Once you run out of space (so to speak) their existence is mentally more abstract and less likely to come to your mind when you’re making your decisions. That negligence is the source of conflict, not you literally not thinking of them as people and harming them intentionally.
I also know that most office hours are totally wasted, but how come no one seems to have successfully made a job where you only do those effective hours possible?
Follow some middle managers around for a day. Being a corporate uncle tom has its perks
sinceasdf@lemmy.worldto Cybersecurity@sh.itjust.works•New RDP Exploit Allows Attackers to Take Over Windows and Browser SessionsEnglish2·5 个月前The article is a flat lie. It allows attackers to view fragments of an rdp session screen and nothing else like “take over” anything. It’s also not remotely new.
I think the baked-in political biases highlight how not “open source” the weights really are without knowledge of the training data. You can bias these systems however you want to and it’s nontrivial or impossible to remove it once it’s there.

Never been banned but I stopped commenting or even logging in on Reddit years ago, I always used r/all almost exclusively and they ruined that algorithm multiple times over. I could never really tell if I was talking to a bot or not when commenting either.
