It’s an unpopular take, but I recommend everyone read the book “On Killing” by Dave Grossman. It’s obvious that what Israel is doing is very much a genocide, but I stand firm in my opinion that their boots-on-the-ground infantryman are also victims of the Israeli political machine.

I feel that. Getting the official steam working, plus dealing with blackouts is a nightmare. I usually just listen to the game on the radio and check the box score every period on my phone. It’s unbelievable how much the official stream costs compared to the low quality of the app. And still being subject to blackouts at that price is insane.

Not to mention that my team is basically a factory of sadness anyways, so once regular season is over there’s not much for me to keep up with.

Same here. Whether I vote or not somebody is gonna win. Might as well judge it towards who I like, or is at least more palatable. Something something civic duty and all that.

Local elections are way more important than the presidential one, though. If you’re not already, get involved in local politics, y’all.

If it pays your bills and leaves something left over, I’d say go for it. But definitely treat this (and basically every job, probably) as a stepping stone to put in your resume while you either save money or look for something better.

Probably not a popular take in this community, but apparently I fall in somewhere between Democratic Socialism and Centrist Marxism, with a sprinkle of Social Democracy thrown in. Big props to LeftValues for giving me a start on that. Marxism-Leninism score of 0%, though, so that’s odd to me. I thought there works be at least some shared values, but my fondness for decentralization means probably not. Seems like there’s a lot to learn. At the very least, it seems like everyone wants things to get better.

Gonna have to go with losing my job and enlisting. Absolutely spiralled after basic training and AIT. The perspective from being a part of the American machine did not do a lot to make me more patriotic lol. A lot of dudes I was in with drank the Kool aid and went the other direction, though. I usually watch the dub when I’m watching with my wife because she likes to crochet and craft while doing stuff, but I prefer the sub when watching just me.

The quality of dubbed anime has gotten way better over the last decade since there’s an established market for it now. So if it’s a newer dub (2000s+) I’d go for the dub. Anything older than that, go for a sub.

Meant to reply earlier, but it was a hell of a week. I did manage to pick up the cigar you mentioned (on mobile, not gonna try and spell it and totally butcher the spelling), as well as another similar cigar recommended by the clerk in charge of the humidor.

Was definitely enjoyable! Didn’t go so great with bourbon, but I liked them both! Oddly enough, the second one went with some pink lemonade, and the sour contrast kinda added to the whole experience.

Anyways, that’s my layman’s casual take on dipping my feet into real cigars. Thank you for the recommendation!

I have questions! I’m a pretty big fan of the punchy and sweet flavors of the cheapo Backwoods and similar cigarillos. If I wanted to make the jump into something that’s actually decent/respectable quality, where would I start? As a side reference, I consider black cavendish pipe tobacco to be my ultimate personal blend. Other than that, the only thing I don’t enjoy is the harsher bitter/coffee flavors. So any recommendations would be awesome!

It’s generic gas-station garbage but a Backwoods sometimes hits the spot. Best paired with cheap beer and junk food.

Gonna throw in my vote for the tail-end of fall. When it’s almost-but-not-quite winter, and every morning is chilly and frosty. There’s something really peaceful about the quietness of it. And it tends to be right in-between major holidays, so the break from “being present” is kinda nice, too.

Also tends to coincide with pumpkin spice season. Despite all the recent negativity about it in recent years pumpkin spiced everything is an absolute favorite of mine.
