  • Oh man, I totally forgot. Expeditionary Force is so good! Its funny like hitch hikers guide to the galaxy but more modern and the writing is not as clever. But there is a HUGE story arc dealing with super smart spiders. I listened to it and I’m pretty sure it was made for audiobooks first.

  • Foam sounds terrible for holding bolts. If you have to fill it and have a clear hollow access, I’d consider epoxy and some wood dowels. The dowels would be to bring the cost down because you will probably need more than a gallon of epoxy and that stuff is expensive. This is my idea, please feel free to poop on it.

  • Hi friend, I understand. I commented because it is a sad and touching situation you shared. I hope you find a great way to get all the resources you need for Bernie. I feel like the system is being tested in a way. I’m glad you asked on asklemmy. I’m not sure anyone has done that and there might be some interesting discussion about it. You might find the advocates you need through your posts and we may find an answer to “ where should I post this” for your situation.

  • It’s not sci-fi but Kingkiller Cronicles is some of the first fantasy I tried and it was excellent. It gets sciency enough to keep me interested. Ideas from chemistry, thermodynamics, physics are prominent in this magical world. But the reason I recommended this series is because it is well written, exceptionally engaging, and the reader is awesome once you get used to his voice.

For scifi I recommend Three Body Problem (lots of cool ideas based in physics and an excellent story) or Expeditionary Force (Lots of AI/programming humor and space travel scenarios).
