A recent food discovery (Well within the last year) I made was Charlie Anderson highly recommend his series on creating NY style pizza.
How kind of it to think about your privacy. Such a nice google. /s
Wow, that blasted through its pledge amount. First time hearing about it and it looks really cool. I love the theme.
Us (humans) vs. Them (aliens)
Wait, I can redeem cash prizes?!?
I both do and do not want to check that out.
I did web design in the 90’s and remember one customer reviewing the site that I’d designed her. She said she liked it, but asked if I could add something like that neat little paper clip she has when she opens up Word, so it can help people navigate her site.
Note: Javascript was in its early days around this time so the idea of a dynamic/interactive site like this was not on the cards.
Reddit is far too recognizable of a name to die. Myspace still exists today, as does Digg. It may have peaked and shifted from its original vibe, and will continue to shift, but with it it’ll still live on as the investors try to figure out ways to claw back their money.
I’m sure in ten years time you’ll be able to visit reddit.com and be fed some cleansed ad friendly news feeds snuggled between ads, pointing you to content funded by marketing money. Just go to Digg right now and you’ll see it.
This is like the discovery of the Rosetta stone.
Dunno about best, but I had a few instances where I posted a thread only for it to be deleted by a mod and then reposted by them. Gotta farma that karma. I maybe could have disputed it, but getting into a tussle over someones love for numbers that go up feels a bit pathetic.
A student at Ecole des Mines on Boulevard Saint-Michel told Le Parisien: “I was in front of the Val de Grâce, I heard a huge boom and I saw a ball of fire 20 or 30m high. And the building collapsed with a huge noise. I smelled gas, but took several minutes to come to my senses.”
Witnesses reported smelling gas before it happened. BBC news report stated.
Switching song lyrics for immature lines.
A few games including Caves of Qud uses Wave Function Collapse on their landscape and environment population. It’s an interesting technique that’s only just getting more traction in games.
This is a good repo of info on how it works and uses. https://github.com/mxgmn/WaveFunctionCollapse
So he’s out doing damage control with the press.
So we’re not in r/RedditAlternatives speaking in favor of Lemmy.
This is important. I’ve mentioned it before. There are probably levels of people: and those that straight up quit, are no longer a voice on Reddit. You could go back with a goal to draw people away, but I think it’s also valid to let things play out their course. I’m still missing some subreddits I went to, especially those where I lurked rather than posted. I can live with that loss. I don’t use Twitter any more and I didn’t replace that with anything. I’m sure my life will go on without some replacement subreddits for now.
Do people expect a fully functional Reddit clone with all the same features to conveniently exist somewhere they can hop to?
Yes.
EDIT: Ok, I should add something more. Sadly, yes. I’ve seen comments from people say pretty much that. “I went there and there’s no content and the UI isn’t great”. hrumph. Of course there isn’t and no one should expect there to be. Reddit didn’t start with all that shit either, but Reddit exists now and it pleases a lot of people, despite the cracks forming all around them.
First name that came to mind when I saw the thread title. His new Weird Stuff in a Can episode was a fun journey.
