Yeah everytime I open it for updates it shows me a popup ad. For the VPN my only reference point is Proton VPN premium servers, when using it the downloads don’t move, disable it, and it starts going instantly

It goes to my pile of reasons for not using it, currently, I have:

• Blocks VPNs
• Popup ad at startup
• There’s nothing interesting on it
• Now it requires an account

That’s the worst part, it was offered at launch and it was very easy: simple APK install and the click of a button! But suddenly they decided to remove it without any prior warning, and now, after a year or two of promises of BL unlock coming back “in a few months”, they simply said fuck you

It depends for the translation speed, if they only make a single device, they can likely do what apple does and improve their translation layer (FEX) to use specific instructions of the CPU they are using. Apples Rosetta is very efficient at what it does

If some are interested, FUTO also has their own keyboard app with word suggestions, swipe typing and some of the best voice to text I’ve seen period. And it runs locally as well

Especially when your password gets reset after 3 fails like at my job, I DON’T want to deal with IT

I usually to in the developer tools and manually disable the thing preventing the paste action. It’s usually a string to remove some JS or something or an Event that you need to uncheck

I think comments are good in a first resort, along with the other points you mentioned. To me reading a single line summary and or explainer will always be faster than reading 15 lines of code even if it’s very well made and self documenting

Am I the only one who likes to write comments when I find code that took me a while to understand even when I didn’t write the code? It helps me when I go back to that place and it helps other devs that have to do the same figuring things out as me. Idk if I’m just weird but I really like writing documentations and commenting my code

Yes there m illegal things on social media, but they are not public group chats with hundreds of people in them sharing info on how to do x crime better. What you will mostly see on Instagram etc when it’s about illegal stuff are links to those telegram channels. And yes meta/everyone else should definitely do better at moderatibg their platforms.

Telegram isn’t in trouble because they are a ““private”” messenger because 1) they aren’t and 2) they basically asked for it. They are hosting pirates, drug dealers and scammers and they refuse government requests for the data they have about the user. That is the issue: not complying with data requests. For example, signal, a truly secure messenger, will comply with data requests and will send the authorities everything they have about a user, which is really not that much to begin with. This whole Telegram story is absolutely unrelated to chat control

All of the illegal stuff like that that I’ve seen around on social media always linked to telegram channels. Most of the time what you see on regular social media are bots advertising the telegram channels, where the real people are at
