The world is pretty fucked up, it always has been and so it will continue to be.
And none of it really matters either, it’s all just a tiny flash of light in the darkness that will soon fade away to nothing.

However, here we are, living in a beautiful planet that was blessed with life, so many different plants and animals, sounds, smells and tastes, music and art, being able to talk with others, laugh, cry, love. We’re only microscopic creatures that live on the tiniest spec of dust imaginable, but to our tiny eyes there is plenty of beauty to be found. And for as long as we are able to see that beauty, there is a point to it for us, we can try our best to enjoy what we have for the little time that we have it, before we finally become one with the universe.

This aligns very well with my own philosophy about life, you couldn’t have said it better!

This is why critical thinking is such an essential skill. So many people out there are convinced about things with bullshit arguments, just because the person talking is charismatic/confident or popular and influential.

Note: Critically thinking doesn’t mean denying everyone and everything and holding controversial beliefs in order to feel smarter than others, it often starts with admitting your very own mistakes first. Just like with other’s arguments you should be applying the same checks to your own thinking and notice your own fallacies to correct them.

People say that the devs are extreme left, though I haven’t seen anything extreme first hand, simply being communist is a very valid opinion but I guess there’s more to it. Besides politics, the project is very nice and promising, and I’ve had very useful feedback from the devs while trying to make a pull request for a new feature.

I seriously hope that they won’t be able to while they’re warmongering in the east and keep on abusing the Greek borders to the west and claim that Greek lands belong to them. If they stop their bully behavior and play nice with their neighbors then I’ll be glad to welcome them and keep history in the past.

Maybe my definition of “decent human being” is too strict, but it’s way too rare for me to assume it.
I assume that someone I don’t know is alright, but they have to do some kind act or show good behavior at their expense without expecting to be rewarded for me to understand that they really are a good person and aren’t just good to others when it’s easy and beneficial for them.

Summer does suck for its own reasons, but I’m overall much happier during summer than the winter.
Maybe it’s the sun, maybe it’s the temperature or the lack of allergies, but I’m always in a much better mood and more energetic despite getting tired from the heat.

I’m having (or am going to have) some pretty serious personal issues, so that’s pretty bad.
But on the bright side, I had fun playing DnD on the weekend and I opened my first ever open source PR on Lemmy

I agree with your points generally, but I also understand the point of view of the general user. Reddit for most people is just a nice app to open while you’re lying on your couch between activities and scrolling through some interesting/fun/wholesome stuff. The API changes are completely irrelevant to the average user who doesn’t even know about third party apps. I remember a poll on r/polls about 3rd party apps and the people who use Reddit’s app was like 95% (obviously r/polls is not scientific statistics but it still shows something).

What you’re saying is especially more relevant on platforms like Youtube, where there’s people actually having careers and their life’s work at stake because of Youtube constantly taking a dump on their platform.

What I’m mostly here (kbin and Lemmy) for is because I believe in decentralization and an open source, free from capitalist milking, internet and I want to be a part of it and support its growth.

It really depends on the game and what phase I’m at currently. The games that I can dump hours upon hours on are usually RPGs or have some kind of RPG element to them. I used to spend an insane amount of time on competitive games, but I’ve grown to avoid them because of how toxic they get eventually, though I still have an itch for them now and then.

Adulthood really decreased my playing time, more than I expected. It’s also harder for me to play for long periods without feeling unproductive and questioning what is the point of this…

I played it with some friends and was having a really good time for a while (we started when the game launched), but it didn’t take long until we got tired of the same game loop over and over again without much else to do, I don’t know if things have improved since then on that aspect

Personally I think Cyberpunk was a flawed masterpiece, the whole world, characters, art and story (both main and sidequests) create something so beautiful and unique to me, and there were quite a few heart wrenching moments.

I also think it’s great from a gameplay perspective, I’m a huge RPG fan and this was insanely fun to me, I’m definitely going to do at least one more playthrough once the expansion is out and I have time

It gives me hope for the future of the internet, even if the average layman never learns or cares about it all. It’s interesting to think that the Internet started this way as well, it was a complete nerd thing at first and nothing like we know it today.

I hope I can contribute to either kbin or lemmy once I find some time, probably Lemmy since I know Rust and nothing of PHP. Perhaps it can be a fun way to learn PHP as well though
