Would you really prefer the inconsistency of the gig economy if well paying consistent jobs were available? Would you eat rice and beans for every meal if you actually had the choice? Wouldn’t you prefer just a few more square feet in your tiny home(maybe in the kitchen or bathroom)?

Acting like people are making all of these choices out of genuine desire and not a good helping of “this is what I have to do to survive” is what the meme is criticizing and what you on your high horse up there failed to see.

Things like Spotify or your phone/earbuds themselves usually have a mono setting. I use it all the time when only wearing one earbud. Beatles songs are notorious for splitting vocals to one ear only.

The solution is already right there. But let me guess, “No, I want to use my old wired earbuds from 1995 and they should accommodate me in my archaic niche use case instead of me upgrading my earbuds to enjoy the new features developed like forced mono”?

You don’t have to type a single foreign language word for them to know you speak it. Just go to places and hang around people that it knows speaks it and it’ll make the assumption. Every person you interact with who shares EVERYTHING is, congrats, basically a snitch on you as well.

Your “Internet profile” is being linked to his “internet profile” because they can see you are constantly together. So they assume friends/relatives/coworker. But they also see that you’re together at times people who are couples are(late at night while asleep, for example). So with basic time and location data, they’ve determined you’re a couple. And that becomes another metric in your profile. Things that he likes, it will assume you like or are at least interested in, and same for him. All you had to do was type in the other language a few times and your profile got “speaks X” added to it. And him, by dating you, now has “knows someone who speaks X regularly” attached to his profile.

It’s really very easy. Now imagine that everything you do is being catalogued like that. Then cross referenced with other people they know more about to flesh out more inferences about yourself(“you like x and y? 98% of people who like X AND Y also like Z, so let’s advertise Z to them”.

It seems like magic but it’s just advanced statistics in action.

While I agree with what you’ve said, I’ve always felt fusion and other such tech is the future of long distance space travel, not Earth based energy use. Wind and hydro are useless in space and solar has issues with power accumulation the further away from a star you go. We will still need some kind of “fuel” based energy source if we’re ever to enter deep space and cross the gaps(unless battery tech increases much further to the point that a “battery” lasts a significant portion of the vehicles lifetime). Even then, you’d need recharge stations at each end or to park by a star to refuel in between.

We have fusion/fission now. That kind of battery tech is still a ways off. Feels shortsighted to ignore nuclear now just because it’s not perfect in this specific environment. After all, name any vehicle not powered by nuclear that can run for 20-30 years before it needs to refuel/recharge. No battery tech can even come close currently.

Umm… Shouldn’t the first attempt have been unlikely? This literally proves Secret Service isn’t as competent as you believe.

When I grew up and the term was first coined, it refered to the generation coming after mine. It was literally “what will we call this next generation? Well, they’re growing up during the turn of the millennium…”. Then suddenly years later it included my generation. Then suddenly it includes the generation before me? When really it’s just a lazy replacement for “kids these days”.

You’re further proving my point. A person born in 1981 would be 18 years old in 1999. They will have had NONE of their childhood during the Millennium(unless you’re counting the very end of it)

Because every other “generation” is about 10 years and yet somehow “Millennials” are an almost 25 year gap. Notice how it’s “Older Millennial, younger millennial, etc”. You don’t use those qualifiers with the other generations because they are appropriately sized.

Millennials should be 2-3 named generations. It currently refers to 80’s kids, 90s kids, any kids alive when 2000 happened, and early Aughts kids(probably because the last name sucked and no one wanted to use it). Too many generations wanted the claim of “I was the first generation of the new millennium” and everyone co-opted the term even when it didn’t traditionally apply(newborns because they were closest to the date as opposed to when their major development occured is part of that stretch)

This is like the 3rd version of the article at this point. It’s mentioned in other articles. What is mentioned in this one is they used devices to pretend to be active during times they were expected to be. You know, fraud.
