i’m hearing this about our state DFPS - as far as i know, you now only need to be 18 and you need to have graduated high school. then you get to destroy families.

because i was 18, a freshman in college, and just got dumped. i was all down about it and a friend offered me one and i thought, fuck it, why not.
then i bummed another a few days later and so on. bought my own pack within a week.
i believe you can do this if you choose and when you’re ready. i won’t lie - it’s not easy, but you may decide if is easier than staying. the dv hotline can direct you to local services, including housing. be careful if you begin to explore your options; he may escalate.
(800) 799-7233. if you can safely search, they also have text and chat contact online.
i think there’s like a whole subculture around these shoes, no joke
edit - other people in thread explaining it better!
i ran into this kind of garbage the other day looking for a Nicholas Jaar video when i couldn’t recall the name. like BoC, there’s tons and tons of tracks by Jaar, but results gave me one or two of his most popular tracks and a buuuuuunch of other stuff. i couldn’t even just keep scrolling, there were a dozen results and then the “related search” garbage.
ugh, i’m so fed up with google, and at the same time not motivated enough to figure out workarounds. i have work and shit to do around my house.
i guess, with me, they won.
edit typo
seems like i read something to the effect that DiCaprio made a lot of suggestions to give depth to his character, and that the movie as initially written really was more just-the-gimmick. i hated Tenet; i imagine Inception without likable (edit - or at least interesting) characters would have felt more like that.
nice to see another vxjunkie here
i find myself using “friend” a lot lately. dunno if that’s a great replacement.
having viewed the video now, i initially found myself surprised i was not more horrified. my best guess as to why is this - what seemed most notable to me was his apparent sanity and intentionality in making this choice. he chose the where and when of his death and intended it to matter.
indeed, lots of people make poor decisions regardless of age. but statistically speaking, 24 year olds have resources (experience, development) which increase their capacity to make better decisions.
someone at 24 has several more years of experience in the adult world. someone at 24 has several more years of neurological development (which isn’t complete until around 25). in other words, at 24 someone has better context for decision-making and better decision-making ability than someone who is 18.
take peace in knowing that i gave him a good life, and i got to share it beginning to end. it’s nice to know i could do that for him.
i was looking for rx sunglasses before posting. single greatest gamechanger in the last 15 years of my life.
supposedly. not at the local grocery chain, according to them. at the pharmacy chain i can get one, but my teens will only get them if they are covered by state health insurance, which they aren’t. my income from my new job stopped that instantly, but my coverage doesn’t start until november. they’re in limbo.
edit - so i’m just waiting. i guess i could get mine at least.
oh shit, this is me! i’m worried i’m about to tho, uninsured and can’t really fork over the money for a shot.
i’m late gen x (78), that’s more comfortable to me than being lumped with millennials. (the caveat being, i suppose, that we’re dissimilar in some respects from early gen x.)
internet was not widely available until about the time i started college, and gen x media defined popular culture at that time. i also relate to the notion of being the child of two working parents - the first generation of latchkey kids.
i tend to see millennials as people who were kids when i was in school - and they grew up with the internet.
erhoslab is still around, last i checked. nice guy, nice voice, no screaming.
