You almost don’t have a choice when looking for some jobs. Some whole industries won’t even consider you if you don’t have a LinkedIn.

I’ve got a legion go with Bazzite installed and now I’m curious. I’ll boot into windows after I boot into Bazzite and see if there’s a difference. At least then you’ll know if it’s Linux or YouTube.
Edit: So for me (granted I’m not on a steam deck but on steam OS for another handheld), it defaults to 720p but I’m using Firefox in desktop mode, and I have the option to change it to 1080p but only if I use a mouse to have over the video and select settings from the progress bar.
In windows (on the same device) it works just fine, and I can do 1080p premium on Firefox from windows 11. So it may be something stupid like needing to use the track pad, or it may be how you’re using Firefox in steam OS (as an app inside steam or some other way).
Edit edit: Randomly the sound quality is quieter in Bazzite (receiver and speakers set to the same volume level) than in windows, by a significant margin.
The crazy thing for me is that I have a little handheld specific for dos games. The problem I run into every time is having to setup computer keyboard bindings for each game to play them using the built-in controller. I really want retroarch or another dos emulator to do profiles for different games and I haven’t seen that yet.
Nobody wants to believe me (a random person on the internet who has provided no proof whatsoever of their own that can be replicated in any way by a credible source, over actual investigative journalists and security experts who have been actively looking for such a thing to validate it and have found nothing after years of these allegations). Hmm. I wonder why that is.
There was an article not too long ago about how windows 11 was gaining in market share for gamers. But my guess is a lot of them are like me and bought a handheld that can dual boot Bazzite and Windows (because they have games that only windows can play). Most of the games I have are older so no incorporating anti-cheat anything at the kernel level. But I still had to turn off secure boot in order to get Bazzite up and running.
I wonder how long this will continue to be the case once they end support for windows 10 next year.
Because the amount of data use alone would be so astronomical as to be very obvious. Unless it’s specifically recording you locally and then uploading that information when you’re on wifi (which would be obvious too because of the slow down it would cause, the amount of bandwidth it would take up (making you hit data caps with your provider and throttling your service), and the fact that most phones just do not have that much storage and don’t have a slot for added sd cards anymore. Feasibly it doesn’t make sense for a handheld device to be recording everything you say passively. Your battery alone would have to last several weeks of normal use.
The custom ROM would need to have stylus input and probably some other things. But it is an android device so…
In your vehicle perhaps this is true. In what I would wager is most vehicles there’s some modules that can die that will 100% make your car inoperable and if they do die you better have an o-scope and a diagram on the bench at home along with some very specific skills. Most people aren’t gonna be able to bring a module back, and even if they can they’ll still more than likely have to pay a shop to program it. Or clone it I guess.
For updates? It works for updates too. I hope you’re updating apps more than every 6 months for security reasons.
The best I’ve got is, it’s complicated. I left reddit very purposely to avoid a lot of the corp side BS and the results of that on the user base. The number of bots and bought/paid accounts alone is enough of a reason not to go back. It’s been getting pretty steadily worse for the last decade at least and while I think the fediverse is kind of toxic, I know for a fact from first hand experience that reddit is more so by a large margin. I want Lemmy to have more users and more communities. I miss reddit for the sheer number of niche communities that haven’t moved over. I don’t have time to start and moderate a community myself. But I don’t want reddit here. I welcome users who want to follow the rules. I don’t welcome wholesale reddit occupation of this space.
Several. Of these stories were. Reported. By the media. What even.
They’ve killed a fair few of the services I’ve liked over the years. But there are other services I still like (with caveats) that I still use so it’s a mixed bag for me. If they kill those services I’ll move on to others.
I don’t hate Google. I don’t trust them and I don’t think anyone else should either. Vet the products and services you use. But I don’t hate them.
Make complaints to your congressman’s office. Those texts are illegal and should be reported.
Comparatively though the pro and regular size of the 7 do not give me hope. The 8 is fine but I haven’t been reading up on the 9 rumours yet.
As someone who lives in the PNW that PNW clued me in.
You know what’s kind of funny. Both my parents identify as Gen X. Both of them are actually Baby Boomer’s. With the pre-requisite feral children. But I’m a millennial and it’s kind of funny that having grown up basically a feral child my generation doesn’t get to claim that.
Somewhat elder millennial.
What kind of sensor does the pixel tablet have in the power button. How does it differ from the one in the pixel 9?
If you’ve ever signed up to win something (a car, a vacation, a pretty watch, free food for a year), you’ve given them your data and they just add that together with what they can scrape off the internet and sell it to anyone who wants it in a lot of cases.
