No, in our calendar system there was year 1 BC followed by year 1 AD. So no zero. It’s just how they set it up, they’re human made ideas anyway. Many countries do not even use this system, for example it is currently year 2567 in Thailand and year 113 in North Korea.

Qatar based Al Jazeera “skews left”. Yeah, I don’t think so. What a joke.

Vub@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is the best site to stream popular German stuff (like a German Primewire or something similar)?51·1 year agoI have never heard of Primewire but there were a bunch of movie/tv show streaming websites about a decade ago with direct streaming (like movie2k/movie4k) but they got busted HARD and IIRC the people behind them got long prison sentences.
Just this week I read the authorities had confiscated cryptocurrency valued at around 2 billion (!) euros from one of them currently still in jail.
Navidrome is neat
Vub@lemmy.worldto Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•How does Usenet content not immediately get DMCA'd into oblivion?English4·1 year agoIt’s not more risky than torrenting yourself, it is just not risk free. If you live in a country where torrenting is safe: great for you! It’s not like that everywhere.
Regarding the entire issue: Usenet and Debrid are extremely uncommon and “underground” compared to regular torrents or direct downloads. The lobby does not have infinite resources so they target the big and easy to catch fish. Just harvesting torrent IPs and suing individuals with zero knowledge of defending themselves is super easy.

Good to know, thanks!
I have Spotify, Tidal and YouTube Music. In my opinion Spotify’s apps and UI are way better. Also the recommendations are much better.
Desktop Tidal feels clunky and YT Music doesn’t have a desktop client at all.
All three mobile apps are just fine.
Many more people use Spotify so you’re probably more likely to find good playlist links for Spotify.
YouTube Music is included with YouTube Premium and Tidal has higher quality audio if you need that.
If you don’t care so much about the UI, recommendation engines etc, you can use any of them really. They have similar libraries and in the end they do the same thing - play music.
Thank you. It seems like the intelligent, friendly and nice times where this kind of people were not yet on this platform is over. 😕 So many weird and toxic comments lately…
They sure have their uses. My Pi 4 is at around 3,5W idle and the new Pi 5 is at 1,8W idle. Extremely impressive! And fast enough for all my use cases, so for me it’s the perfect machine. Let me know if you want to sell your Pis :)
Yes, a Pi 4 with 2GB RAM. It is running Navidrome (music server) with my music collection on a 2TB SSD connected to it. Works great.
The energy consumption at around 3-4 W, pretty neat!
Those are great if you have no concern for power consumption (environment/money). Can’t beat the Pi for that.
Vub@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•[POLL] Do you use/require a headphone jack on your phone?65·2 years agoI thought I did and was so against manufacturers removong them. Until I got Airpods. So much better. Perfect ear fit like no other. No cable mess. Instant auto connect between devices. I can ping them. And they’ve held up longer than any cable headphones as well, whose cables always break. And they get tangled. I’ve had the Airpods for three years now and they still hold battery for a full day use for me. Charging them fully takes like 15 minutes.
I’m sure there are similarly good headphones for other brands, this is just my own experience with Airpods.
In case I must have a cable for some reason I can plug in a tiny 3,5mm adapter through the charging port. So that’s not a problem either.
Also the phone has better water and dust resistance with one port less.
Probably someone outside of Europe, that was Commodores main market. Especially the Amiga generation.
