They just like the sunlight because it’s warm
Yeah, that’s definitely not what that meant.
That’s…
I’m not sure we’re all talking about the same thing. The Democratic Party has been playing to the “center” longer than any of us have been alive, while shunning, excommunicating, and often literally arresting anyone to the left. And all that accomplishes and has ever accomplished is the Overton window shifting further and further right. Kamala was running on bragging about hiring “the good” republicans while sidestepping the massive issues anyone even slightly progressive wanted to talk about (and what almost surely turned off a huge portion of voters), which is the ongoing genocide in Gaza. She finally said the day before the election that she would do “everything in her power to end the war,” which is still not nearly enough when discussing a fuckin genocide.
So many of the people I know are leftists. None of them voted for her because of it. Sure, the democrats and liberals I know did—my parents, for example. But they have voted democrat the entire time I’ve been alive. They are solid, reliable Dem voters. They’re not the people she needed to appeal to either—but keeping them was certainly more important than any mythical “centrist/swing” voter.
Everyone that was arrested for sitting in school buildings protesting the genocide, everyone who is sickened by what we’re seeing. Who couldn’t stomach voting for someone who didn’t feel the need to say it was a genocide that sickens them. THOSE are the people the dems gain when, like in 2020, things are so bad they hold their noses and increase turnout, and they’re the votes they lose when they hold office and maintain the genocidal status quo.
The first thought that came to mind for me was, “hello susan. You’re right on time. Please, have a seat.”
Classic case of open minded, forward thinking from the mods here. Can’t take an open discussion about how to do what we all want if it even calls into question current methods. Where does that fall on some sort of political compass thing? Left-> authoritarian?
Before my comment got deleted, the response was “I’m not here to tell you how to accomplish anything.”
…why not? Do we not all want the same thing? If we do, discussing our tactics and a showing a little fuckin solidarity across borders are…kinda important dontcha think? But that does go to prove my original point, that this post isn’t about how to do what we all want, how to solve problems we all see. It’s about patting yourself on the back. We all need to be a little better.
Yup. I was driving in the car with a few people for work. We were talking about a music video a couple of us had worked on, and we were explaining who daddy yankee/bad bunny was, and we mentioned daddy yankee did the song “gasolina.”
We live in the US, the conversation was in English, but fuck if “estacion de gasolina” didn’t show up on our route.

Yeah, if every single part of my foot were small enough to get wedged between the grates on every step, I don’t think I’d like it much either
It’s a great story, and one of my favorites—I’m still replaying it. But I think the best story ever told through a video game is RDR2. But those are my two favorite games, so you really can’t go wrong either way.
I don’t think that’s actually true. Have the metrics for what we consider poverty changed and adapted with inflation and the perfecting of corporate wealth hoarding? “Poverty” is an ambiguous term, and relative poverty is real. That doesn’t show in a standard-line “poverty” metric. What was considered “extreme poverty” is the lowest, but that’s people living on under $1.90/day. I couldn’t even find information on that metric being updated to reflect the current high inflation and profit-explosion landscape.
Also: if you technically pull people out of poverty by outsourcing to the lowest paying, least labor regulated parts of the world, is the fact that extreme poverty went away in those areas even a good thing?

Which of raphinha’s and yamal’s created chances against which opponents were discounted?
Wasn’t she like 17 at the time
These surgeons were moving fast, I can see it
Everybody was limb-fu cutting (hiya!)
Those cats were fast as lightning (hiya!)
I mean, I get it. But I probably would. You’re talking millions and millions of euros PER YEAR. I say this as not a millionaire, but that’s the kind of money that you can be fine with for the rest of your life. Not to mention he’s a more habdsome, multi lingual footballer, so he could easily retire into a life of leisure making appearances, commentating, etc.
And we’re not talking about lowering from 27.7M to 100,000. We’re talking, like, worst case scenario wiping away bonuses and living of NINE MILLION a year.
These are multimillionaires. And we’re talking like they can’t be slightly less super wealthy? Cmon.
