I distinctly remember debating with a person from my old Internet community. The person is anti-globalisation whereas I am pro. This was before I realised right wingers are anti-globalisation, but he blamed the rise of far left and far right in the 20th century to globalisation, and also blamed the fall of Rome to foreigners with the Germanic invasions (it is an oversimplification as to why Germanic peoples invaded but many viewed themselves as also Romans; hence why the later Holy Roman Empire is Germanic). Then after a while, the discussion turned to women’s rights because I mentioned Westerners just don’t have as many children and therefore immigration is necessity . The interlocutor then basically argued that women should have more children. I alluded that there was a certain political party that explicitly viewed women as baby churners in order to breed more people for their race (I’m referring to the Nazis of course, but I should have also mentioned at the time the Islamic fundamentalists also do the same).

Someone mentioned that the user I debated with changed over time within the community. I later learned that the person got banned.

Advocating for traditional values is not in and of itself wrong, but if those values impede another person’s rights then those values are not worth actually worth valuing.

And the once PlayStation exclusive games have also been made available to Steam, thereby making them also accessible to Steam Deck. So the latter is infinitely a better choice!

I admit that I haven’t finished the book “Utopian for Realists”, but the author showed numerous studies and practical examples that universal basic income works. And believe it or not, Richard Nixon was close to introducing UBI but his Friedmanite-advisors dissuaded him.

The term socialism was first coined in 1832, way before Das Kapital has been published in 1866. But before Karl Marx, socialism as we know it wasn’t something that is fully solid despite the term already being coined. During 1848 liberal revolution, there were some who participated who’d be considered “socialists”, but they don’t necessarily know what they want.

Social democracy is still considered under the umbrella term of socialism, but it’s further right than most leftist ideologies.

That’s my point. Socialism developed a broad meaning as time went on. Before, it started to mean simply demanding better worker’s rights and conditions. But evolved to mean businesses owned by workers. Eventually, communism came into the scene and started to promote stateless society run by the proletariat. Then with so many people being turned off by the violence of communism, the more moderate left-- social democrats-- advocated to implement socialism through political and electoral mobilisation. But even then, as time progressed, social democrats abandoned their attempts to implement wholesale socialism and instead rein capitalism with sweeping regulations, instead of abolishing capitalism. Nonetheless, even though social democracy still embraced capitalism, the ideology is still considered under the wide tent of socialism but further right to it.

Socialism has a broad definition than antisemitism. Does it mean worker-run businesses? Businesses run by the government on behalf of workers? Or should society be organised by commune?

Anti-semitism is anti-semitism. Nevermind what Hasbara says and the Israeli state weaponising the term to their convenience, anti-semitism just means being bigoted against Jews.

Again, it boils down to “define socialism”.

Are we talking about USSR, Cuba and China-type socialism? Then they are all those things.

But if we’re talking about Finland, Denmark Sweden and Norway-socialism, then I’m on board with socialism!

Genuine question, what does anyone else think of Nebula? It’s very high quality but it doesn’t have random videos that you would turn off your mind and just watch.
