When a car crashes, there’s usually a magnitude less people impacted then when a plane crashes. But you know what? Air travel is still much, much safer than car travel. Large but infrequent incidents can be much less dangerous than smaller but more common incidents in the aggregate.

Discord is great for tracking specific projects being run by small groups. For example, I use it to track the status of a Radical Heights fan remake, and also to get updates when a specific user creates 4-bit quantization of LLMs and to read chats of ways they are being implemented.

There may not be as much of a user spike, but I would think there will be a content spike. How much Reddit content is posted using 3rd party apps, and how many of those content creators are going to swap to the official app vs utilizing alternatives such as Lemmy for future postings?

I enjoy weed for the same reasons people drink - to be more sociable, to relax and unwind, to increase my enjoyment of an activity, and to put myself in a better mood. Alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine are socially and legally accepted drugs, they’ve just been commodified.

Mushrooms were because of curiosity meeting opportunity. I don’t take them often, but the handful of trips I’ve been on have all been interesting and (mostly) enjoyable if a bit intense.

Cocaine was purely opportunity. While it was an extremely positive experience, I would advise against it and any of the harder drugs because even though I only did it for one night over a decade ago there is still a strong desire to do more if I could. Imagine thinking about your favorite food while you are very hungry, and maybe kick the desire upon a few notches. Yeah.

It’s no surprise that anyone with enough intelligence to have the clearance to handle this case wouldn’t want anything to do with it. The writing is on the wall (and in the ballroom, in the bathroom, in the poolhouse…)
