Went to rateyourmusic to check for new releases and just noticed they locked access to the forums behind being logged in. That sucks, for a long time I used the threads that linked to an artist or album’s page to find similar stuff and that’s how I discovered a lot of cool things along the years. I am not going to register an account on a website that shows it will only get worse so fuck that noise.

Between every site forcing you to make accounts for even the most basic functionality, aggressively trying to get you to download their shitty mobile apps and like half the internet shitting and pissing itself if it detects that you are using a VPN, I guess capitalism will continue to strip away every bit of usability out of the internet until it remains a merely an interface for feeding your data into advertising algorithms.

Big standalone fangame/total conversion:

• Chronicles of Myrtana: Archolos, built off of Gothic 2. Was my GOTY when it came out, and I consider it better than anything the actual developers released since Gothic 2. I really dig the way it expands the original game’s systems, like apprenticeship. I have some complaints about it but it’s nothing major, and I overall greatly enjoyed my time with it, planning a new run when the big 2.0 update drops.

Mod packs:

• Morrowind Sharp, it’s like Viva New Vegas for Morrowind, I always use it as a base for my own setups, but it’s great as is for new players to get a patched, QoL enhanced and face-lifted vanilla-like experience.

Individual mods:

• Global Escalation for Squad - just a huge expansion-sized load of content
• Beautiful Cities of Morrowind, for bringing the game’s settlements closer to their concept art, implementing a lot of the new fan-made resources to make places more distinct and detailed while having a clear scope and keeping within vanilla-like territory
• Kenshi Kaizo, touches up and expands the existing content without bloating itself by filling the map with all sorts of new factions of varying quality and lore-adherence
• The Stardew Valley mod that adds a whole bunch of cat skins so I can have my irl cat in the game. And on the topic, SDV Expanded and Ridgeside Village when I just want more Stardew Valley stuff.

Haven’t been online for ages due to a whole bunch of life stuff, how are the bears doing? If all goes well I’m slowly getting off anxiety medication this fall.

I am considering giving it a reread myself as it’s been a long while since I read it.

Gothic 3, all those years later I am still upset about it. The vast open world traversable without loading screens was an impressive achievement, especially for its time, but it got wasted on a rushed and incomplete product.

Might be, I had a hard time tracking down its exact origin because I tried to run the mainline Antistasi at some point and couldn’t find it with any mod combo. Let me give it a check and see if I can pinpoint it because I still have the game and my mod setup installed.

Randomly ended up on my country specific youtube recs last night and there was a three hour video literally titled “My great grandfather owned 7 restaurants and the communists took EVERYTHING from him”. Didn’t seem like a bit, I guess anticommunism is really indistinguishable from a parody of itself.

Check out Viva New Vegas, it’s a solid vanilla+ setup. I used it earlier this year as a base and added some more stuff on top and it worked like a charm.

Oh neat I played this for a bit when it first launched but dropped it due to not having a stable group to play with. I’ll drop in one of these days.

Oh yeah I know how this goes and it sucks big time. Lie in bed, can barely sit still and relax. Get up for a minute to go to the toilet, immediately start feeling lethargic and have difficulty keeping eyes open. Go back to bed, sleepiness goes away. In my case, anxiety medication helped.
