As others have said, the analogy is wrong, but for different reasons than what I’ve seen.

A better analogy is an abusive relationship. There’s your partner who beats you regularly. You’re often left bruised. You talk about leaving and the response is ‘the other guy will break your arms, and unless you agree to stay with me, they’re moving in and they will break your arms. I’m still punching you, and there’s no chance I’ll stop, but I’m better than that person.’

There is a cycle of abuse. Look it up. There’s no way to make an abusive relationship better. There’s very little chance that a person will change while they have power over a victim. Power gives up nothing without a fight.

The abuser might change, but only after reflection and a loss of power.

  • I agree with you, but you might find the history of Zionism interesting. Before Israel, there was a sizable portion of Zionists that didn’t want Israel to exist in the middle east. There were also Zionists that didn’t want a ‘state’. They thought it was more important to have a safe place for a sizable Jewish population. There’s probably a lot of flavors of Zionism that you’d agree with. It’s the dominant Israeli Zionism that’s horrible.

It’s a lot easier to say ‘Zionist’ though. Just thought I’d share in case you weren’t aware.

There’s lots of ways to do that safely.
    Catios are a thing.
My partner has fostered multiple cats and now has two. The older one has seen some shit and appreciates being a housecat. She has zero interest in going outside, but she feels safe basking in the small catio while we have a hot drink on the patio.
Maybe in your very specific case it’s OK for the cats to be outside because you have some type of electric fence to keep the coyotes or foxes out. This is very similar to dogs on a leash. The general rule is keep them on a leash. But one in a thousand dog owners has trained their remarkable pup to not need the leash. I’ve seen it, but the rule is dog on a leash for the 999 of us.

  • Bidens done so many speeches that have been interrupted by anti genocide protesters, one 17 times.
All he has to do to secure this vote is be anti genocide. And we still get people saying ‘he’s better than the other guy’

4 years ago it was vote Biden because he could be pushed left. Turns out that was a lie.

This whole discourse is designed to prop up a system that’s fundamentally broken. Americans should be having some very uncomfortable discussions with each other.

Voting is the minimum. The reason there’s no decent alternative is because people vote and think they did their part.

If you’re voting for the lesser of two evils and that lesser is actively supporting genocide, but you’re complaining about people that are saying ‘both sides bad’…

‘If you’re curious what you would do to stand up against genocide, you’re doing it now’ - a braver man than me
