I don’t think that’s really the concern - I think OP was thinking of general metadata that can cause authorities to identify who was there, where exactly and when, and who was also with them - this is power authoritarians wishes they had for a thousands of years, and here we are…

I bought someone a Vitamix once - I was sort of shocked I was able to throw stuff in it, blend it, turn up the speed, and the blended stuff came out hot and consumable as a hot soup. It was easily cleanable, motor is strong, and just consistent and reliable. I suppose I had sticker shock too, but after seeing them in action, I feel it is top end stuff that one would happily pass on to kids, but I don’t use a lot of blenders to really compare

It used to really boggle my mind too (I met a young earth creationist for the first time in my life, he was a network engineer), but then I realized a lot of people just look at techy type jobs purely to make money, not because they are science and tech nerds.

Many people go towards software engineer/computer science type stuff because that’s where the money is. And honestly there is not much there that really would change someones ideology - nothing about sorting algorithms, processor opcodes, schedulers, etc etc really challenges someone’s views - just tools to learn to make that paycheck. So a young earther learns what a packet is and how it gets routed from point a to point b - what exactly would challenge his view that the bible is literal in any of that? Those kinds of people don’t really have any curiosity about the world and are not looking for any answers

From my eastern block friends they are very confused how the USA could have allowed homelessness, they remember the bread lines so it’s not all great memories, but they do talk about how everyone at least had a home, a job and some standard of living - where it seems the standard of living is higher in Western countries.

Honestly I think the answer is a depressing no. Your face is already on some facial recognition software somewhere (most likely). If you pay for an internet connection, your IP will be able to get traced back to your real world identity. If you have a cell phone or use a modern computer, there is so much finger printing and tracking going on that its basically a lost cause.

Now there are steps you can take to fight for your privacy, but if you take part in the modern world, I don’t think there are any easy steps. The acronym boys have access to all the identifying systems and much more.

Now if you are serious about guarding your privacy, there are steps to take and a more privacy focused forum/board/community can give better pointers than me, but if you are looking to not be identifiable or untraceable by a state actors, that’s some real spy level shit. Remember “they” can find and identify the serious cyber criminal players, but most of the time these guys are in countries that dont have extraditions to the US. An anonymous cyber criminal only has to fuck up once to be uncovered

You don’t see me wishing for the deaths of everyone in some state because my news channel tells me the governor of that state is a bad guy - perhaps if you actually had something better to say we could discuss this topic
