That’s super interesting! I barely know any Chinese and probably just assumed the characters were for language instead of numbers.
The public transit system used arabic numbers (maybe as well as the Chinese characters?), so at least that was easy to navigate lol

When I went to China about 5 years ago, all the numbers were Arabic numbers. Not sure if this is a regional thing, or if this is a more recent development.

That’s perfectly fine, I use soap because I eat meat and my gf is vegetarian so I don’t want to leave any grease. Also I find soap just makes it a bit easier to clean.

Dude, you’re not supposed to scrape off the seasoning every time you wash the pan. I reapply a bit of oil maybe once or twice a year. I normally just wash it some soap and water after cooking.

I slept in my car on public rest stops while on a road trip in Norway.
IIRC you can sleep in your car there for two nights, which I never ended up doing anyway because I was travelling.
Public rest stops are amazing, there’s usually pretty clean toilets, benches for picnics and sometimes even showers or a lake to bathe in.

I broadly agree with you, but it feels like cinema is shifting back to quality again. We’re all tired of shitty superhero movies and many of the recent ones have bombed at the box office. Hell, one of the biggest movies of last year was mostly about men in suits talking about science and it was great. Dune pt. II is also an incredible breath of fresh air and shows that it’s still possible to make a massive blockbuster with mass appeal but also a strong sense of style and integrity. I really hope this trend continues because I want real cinema and not mere ‘content’.

I never pick any mushrooms which could potentially be confused with anything toxic. Even if I’m 99% sure, that’s not enough.

Last year I picked a huge amount of mushrooms in the forest, dehydrated them (you can buy a dehydrator or use an oven) and ground them to a powder.
I put mushroom powder in damn near everything I cook, gives it a nice hit of umami.

This is a real phenomenon, but it happens rarely and only on very cold days. I’ve seen this with my own eyes, but it wasn’t this colourful. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone cranked up the contrast in post.
But speaking of northern lights: there is a wide range of how bright and colourful they are, based on all sorts of atmospheric conditions I’m not qualified to explain. But I’ve seen some extremely bright auroras and some that were barely visible. You probably just saw a very weak example.
When the conditions are right, the northern lights can take your breath away.

I always read it as an Ð, which is am Icelandic letter. It kinda sounds like the “th” in “the”, so I read it as “Thisney”

Also, don’t greenlight 100 shows if you only plan on giving 5 of them a second season, and you base that decision entirely on algorithms instead of genuine human feedback.
And please, for the love of god, let me look at a movie for longer than 1 second before you start automatically playing it because your almighty algorithm determined that it would force users to pick a movie faster. It’s the most annoying “feature” that makes me inclined to avoid Netflix as much as possible.
