Honestly, because of my interest, as you can tell from my instance’s name and purpose. It’s the first furry instance I see and also the most popular one, that’s the initial reason.

Some browser supports blocking videos from autoplaying, Firefox is one of them but maybe chrome has similar options too. Check the browser settings.
It doesn’t matter if you’re subscribed to [email protected] (and [email protected] for good measure).
There are plenty of Solitaire games out there aside from MS Solitaire, including free and open source ones. I think PySolFC fits that bill quite well, a huge collection of Solitaire games available for Windows (and other platforms, Linux included of course).
Or KPatience if you use Linux. It’s even preinstalled if you use KDE, which I do.
Hey, they say “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” didn’t they.
I have quite a few recommendations. They are not quite non-freemium since they are free, but if your reason to prefer non-freemium is to avoid ads and in app purchases, then none of these games have them. They are all also open source and the link I provided below will be for their respective F-Droid version (note: some of these games are not available on Google Play Store):
This particular game requires far more attention and strategy than the ones listed above, but it can be played once every few minutes if you constantly save and reload (just don’t play online):
Nah, Prince of Darkness is better than Archmage
…oh wait, wrong game
Basically phone speakers at home, earbuds while away. As basic as you can get.
Ori and the blind forest, a hat in time, deltarune. It’s amazing how good videogame soundtrack can get!
It’s not so much already on my mind.
I didn’t spend too much effort when choosing the name while Playing Stardew; it was the first name that clicked, and never in a million year I’d think to use that name for myself.
But I oversimplified it. Truth is, I also had quite a few other names on my mind when choosing my name specifically, Jasmine’s one of them. It took me a week before I settled on Jasmine and even more weeks before I was fully confident it’s the right name.
The story of how I got my name was both interesting and mundane.
I played a videogame named Stardew Valley and created a female character there. I don’t really think about it much when choosing her name, I just wanted a plant-related feminine name so I chose Jasmine.
Many weeks later, my egg cracked and I randomly chose Jasmine as my new name. Later that day, I realized that the name was the same as my Stardew character.
Indeed it has come [email protected]
This only applies if you use lemmy from the website. If you use mobile apps such as Jerboa, Liftoff, or Mlem, the way to unblock would be different.
Generally, it’s in the settings, at least it is on Liftoff. I couldn’t find it on Jerboa (maybe it isn’t available yet?). I guess you can try from the website.
Unless it’s 2020, then saying “It doesn’t smell like anything here” is concerning…
Pretty much every instance have defederated from at least one other instance, especially towards instances that hosts illegal images, ones with lackluster moderations, instances that support views they consider dangerous, ones filled with spam bots, and yes, sometimes out of drama or politics.
It’s more of a question of which instances they defederated from and why.
Yeah, it’s quite bad. Honestly, that’s something I knew when I made this joke. I thought it’d be funny if the industry collapse, especially from something like this challenge…
But, I’ve also heard attempts at making alternatives that is more ethical and doesn’t involve civets, so I do hope those could catch on…
When you’re a swashbuckling pirates in the lawless seven seas, you gotta come up with clever ways to enforce your ship’s code of conduct.
I assume we’re talking about spam bots, not bots whose entire purpose is to reupload content from elsewhere into here (i.e. reddit reposter bot).
Most likely, spam. Spam and scam has been quite a problem on Mastodon, so I wouldn’t be surprised if bad actors want to bring them here.
With the vast majority of Lemmy users being refuges from Reddit, it’s easy to see why “Reddit ded” circlejerk is strong. It’s the most relatable thing to everyone here, as nearly everyone here can relate. Not to mention it’s the only thing that unites us as it is the only thing we have in common, regardless of which community you used to belong to on Reddit.
But, I do see those posts less and less. As time went by, I’m sure people will move on from the circlejerk (probably to another circlejerk, but at least they do move on).
When it comes to the lack of content, that’s due to the lower number of users. It’s hard to say if whether it’ll get better as it depends on which kinds of content you are looking for.
But if you want more content, try sorting by new. Reddit death content will usually get more upvotes as it relates to more people than any other content, but the “new” sorting should eliminate this bias.
Generally, I tend to focus on smaller creators, their qualities are usually better.
The channels I watched include Nitro Rad (gaming), MattKC (tech), and Modern Vintage Gamer (retro console/gaming).
