That’s it, right there. Artificial exclusivity, that’s what it always was anything else is an excuse to look or seem better or less scummy.
People are going to try to make up reasons, all of them are an excuse to cover up the real reason which is copying apple and forcing people into Bluetooth to sell more expensive tech junk to people. The original and really only reason.
You’re not wrong, lots of people on Lemmy.world just really kiss up to fairphone because of their perceived betterness in other ways. Just because they claim to be doing some things better doesn’t mean they aren’t doing anything wrong or scummy.
Also I bet there’s quite a few apple fanboys here who support copying apple in removing features, for some strange reason.
People will deny this but this is the only real reason for doing that. The other reason is copying apple, which isn’t really another reason as apple removed it for the first reason. Fairphone just went the extra mile to claim that headphones are wasteful, in essence they’re making an excuse to cover up their reason why and also trying to force others to do it as well.
Their definition of evil was insubordination, their way of telling people to listen to them, while also trying to legitimize their message.
I would disagree, I couldn’t care less about their work if they didn’t make it foss or at the very least source available because as great as it is they’ll take it with them when they go bankrupt if they don’t share their specs, schematics, and source code, just like the company with those implants for blindness.
That’s why you do the FOSS version, it’s designed to be easily upgradable and customizable to all your needs, and even on old hardware will still accept updates.

Hopefully, especially since the instance blocking promised in lemmy 0.19 will not filter out users from said instance. Also the fact that none of Lemmy’s blocking systems (except bans and defederation) prevent malicious users from interaction with the blocking user, which is a problem because for users who were blocked for harassing the user they can continue harassing just without the other person seeing, may not sound like a problem but if they are spreading misinformation or encouraging other people to harass the person then it is a problem.
That’s good, I’ve usually found the flat ones made with sheet metal are weaker and more bendable than ones made from steel wire, or just using the small sized paper clips. Which is problematic because I like to keep them in my bag in case I need to use them and if they end up bent up it’s not great.
I think the reason the ones I’ve gotten fared so poorly is because they’re aluminium as opposed to steel like the paper clips. Which always fair better in my bag than the flat stamped ones do.
Paper clip is better, these things are very flimsy, but also phones and Tablets don’t always come with them.
I think it’s meant for people who currently use ABP, uBlock, or one of the other countless bad ones as opposed to the far superior uBlock Origin, or Adnauseam.
What’s often left out is people are uninstalling terrible ad blockers and installing better ones. The terrible ones allow certain ads (from advertisers who pay to get through) or even inject their own ads.
Some disinformative articles are trying to use that to claim that because people are uninstalling [insert bad scammy adblocker name] that people are uninstalling adblockers altogether.
Scissors also work as well if you’re really hellbent on separating them. And if the EU decides to ban Scissors you can use a Knife or glass.
I believe that tactic is called sealioning. It’s very common on Twitter actually.
or tell someone who can
That’s literally exactly what they meant by:
“Users are allowed to point out issues without working on fix themselves.”
That only exports settings and subscriptions, I think what they’re talking about is a solution that allows you to migrate everything including your ownership of the posts and comments that you made.
It’s definitely better than nothing but it’s probably not what they are looking for, hopefully we’ll get a true account migration system soon.
I see no reason why I would want to buy a folding phone. Plastic flexible screen that you can’t put a screen protector on, and that eventually breaks from opening and closing enough times. What could possibly go wrong?
