I’m an American working in the u.s. for a company based in Germany. They have soooo many more days off than us. They’re out at least 3 months of the year before taking additional PTO. They like to bring their European values of work to the u s. But unfortunately that doesn’t mean that I get any more off time. I save all year from January to December and if I never took any of it my PTO amounts to 3 weeks. If you’re an American they have different standards for you because american work culture means getting fucked and hating your life lol.

That being said I still feel like the days I get are generous and I am happy and grateful. But that’s only because I used to get nothing at my old job. It’s only crappy if I compare to others which is the thief of joy and whatnot.

I know a person that did this. They had this dog for a ton of years and posted about it on Facebook about how it was so sad he had to get put down but it was the right thing to do. I was curious what was wrong with him. My father told me it was because he had gotten really aggressive. This was super weird to me because I’d known him so long. Turns out that aggressive actually meant that he’d killed a chicken that they let roam their yard and then attacked some another time after that so they took him to the vet and had him put to sleep. My dad couldn’t understand why that made me so pissed off and then they were trying to get sympathy online for it almost like something happened to him and not like they literally killed him instead of keeping him on a leash or the chickens put up because apparently they’re lazy AF

Sorry for the rant this is just somewhat recent and I’m still so pissed about how awful people are.

This is exactly it. I’m not making excuses for these companies messing up and being negligent I think it’s fine they get a spotlight on these things. However it’s just like the railroad derailings that were hot recently. After it was news we were seeing huge headlines of derailings like every single day and not anymore. I have family members as engineers in the railroad and I know that there’s derailings literally all the time but it was only reported so much because it was the new hot topic for a while. Again not defending the railroads in the cases where huge disasters were also caused due to negligence fuck them for that too
